Best Hunter Build for Leveling in Remnant 2

The versatile Hunter for every situation

Creating the perfect Build has been a part of Souls-likes for years and Remnant 2 provides very interesting Build opportunities with the multi-Archetype feature. Instead of focussing on particular Stats to level up to wield weapons or increase HP and Stamina, Remnant 2 offers a choice between the 4 base Classes which can be combined with another Archetype found later down the line via their relevant Engram Item. Whether or not you are rocking the Hunter Archetype from the very beginning or picking it up as a secondary, this is Vincent’s guide on the best Hunter Build to start with in Remnant 2.

What is the Best Hunter Build in Remnant 2?

It is incredibly important to separate these Hunter Builds by whether or not you are playing the game alone or with friends. It has already been recommended that solo players use the Challenger Archetype due to the higher health pool available in the sense of being able to tank a lot of damage and deal a lot of melee damage back. But for those wanting the Hunter, primarily due to its Shroud Skill and being able to hit those critical shots from afar, you may be wondering what is the best secondary Archetype to run with it?

For those playing Remnant with allies, we recommend the Hunter/Medic Build which has been given the name of Ranger. Regardless of if you are running one or the other as primary comes down to aesthetics (if you want to appear as the Hunter or Medic to others) and the Prime Perk which is enabled based on the primary Archetype you choose. You can switch these out whenever, so long as you are not in combat, via the Character Screen. Just hover over the primary Archetype icon and you will find any other Archetype you have purchased via their Engram here. By switching, you will see that you have 8 Perks overall to work with for the Build, but the Prime Perk will be swapped over based on the primary Archetype you have chosen. The Build you will want to utilize has these key component for you to try out – Medic as Primary Archetype with Regenerator Prime Perk enabled.

Hunter and Medic Build Summary

The main aspect of this Build is to have the Shroud Skill for Hunter enabled so that when there are any downed players, you can utilize this alongside your healing to revive any allies whilst hidden (so long as you do not attack any enemies in the Shroud). In other Classes, reviving teammates is incredibly difficult if you are the last player standing. Regardless of if you are using the Medic Archetype to fast-revive, you will likely be shot down too and having to restart the entire boss fight. Because of this, the Shroud allows you to become a harder target to hit which can stealthily revive any allies without alerting anyone unless you attack which will end the Shroud Skill.

Keep in mind that whilst any weapon is truly viable in Remnant 2, you will want to use long-ranged Rifles as ranged damage is the intended purpose for Hunters. The primary purpose of the Hunter is to keep a safe distance from bosses at all times, covering any allies from afar and moving in when only necessary such as initiating the Shroud to revive and passively heal with the Medic Archetype. Although the Medic is highly recommended for solo players also due to the limited Relic Charge on the Dragon Heart (acts as an Estus Flask), you may find better luck in using the Handler Archetype for those who are playing the game alone. As the Hunter works in the background of a fight, you will want some way to detract attention from yourself and this is where the Handler’s dog comes into play.

Hunter and Handler Build Summary

Whilst the Medic is helpful for solo players, the Handler offers the Bonded Prime Perk which details that your four-legged companion will revive you so long as their health pool is above 50%. We recommend this Archetype over the Medic if you are playing alone as the dog provides a supportive system that the Medic does not provide for yourself. The Medic’s strengths are in healing allies, and whilst the Handler can do the same, you may find that the speed given in Hunter’s Shroud and Handler’s Pack Hunter and Spirit of the Wolf perfectly mix together for a long-range battle with AI support.

That was our recommendation on the best Hunter Build to use in Remnant 2. This Build is especially good for solo players who want to have adaptability in battle and be able to support themselves through healing abilities.
