How to Find the Computer and Secret Password in The Backrooms: Lost Tape

There's something wrong with the chairs

Sometimes I had passing thoughts about no-clipping into the backrooms during my time as a sales advisor for a clothing retailer. This was more for the ground to swallow me whole rather than the total isolation experienced inside that infinite unknown of beige wallpapered walls. Shouting into the abyss with the hope that you truly are not alone in this bizarre land between life and death is a worse option than simply accepting your reality. The voice that responds on the other end is never one you can truly trust. Although the buzzing superficial lights accompany your panicked breaths, there is nothing quite like the feeling of being watched or followed. In ‘The Tape of Josh’, players will revisit the yellow wallpapers that carry that dread throughout its corridors. If you are looking to save Josh and escape Level 0 then this is Vincent’s guide on how to get the Computer and secret Password in The Backrooms: Lost Tape.

How to Get the Computer Password in Level 0

The atmosphere in The Lost Tape is one that many backrooms games hardly achieve. With its found footage, realistic aesthetics and voice lines feeling like a reimagining of Kine Pixel’s work; Josh’s Tape places its players at the centre of isolation, confusion and with on the edge-of-your-seat gameplay. Thankfully, someone else has no-clipped to this dimension before you. They also kindly left you notes and spray painted arrows to guide you to the right area. Players simply need to follow the white arrows which will point you directly to notes that can both be found on walls or on tables. Strangely, each digit of the computer password can be found on these scattered notes that you will come across in Zone A and Zone B. Whilst feeling like you are being followed the entire time, you also learn that the chairs are dangerous. The chair revolution starts here.

You need to find the Generator Room which is located at the back of the Deja Vu area. It is partially protected by a half opened shutter door. The computer you need can be found in here in which you need to turn it on by interacting with the computer tower. After listening to an SCP representative, you can input the password – 983765. The monitor will turn red in which you will be chased by Bacteria (Level 0 Entity). You must run to the mysterious white corridor covered in mushrooms. The exit for Level 0 can be found towards your spawn point for Josh’s Tape. Specifically, between the two crawlspaces highlighted by white arrows that you would have went passed through.

What is the Secret Password?

For those who want a peaceful attempt at exiting Level 0 in The Backrooms: Lost Tape, you can actually do so by inputting the secret password in the computer. You have two options, you can either continue the game upon getting to the fungus room by successfully evading Bacteria, or you can input the secret password into the computer inside the Generator Room. The secret password flashes for a split second on the screen when the corridors turn red to indicate that a dimension has opened and that Bacteria is around. With this code – 827384, input it into the computer for the corridors to turn blue, indicating a calming atmosphere as the Entity of Level 0 is not present. This allows you to escape Level 0 without having to worry about dying and restarting the Level.
