Best Weapons in Lunacid

A Knight that uses Magic? Why not

The road to escaping the Great Well is a journey that few would be brave enough to take. The most nefarious and vile creatures await your arrival to spill your blood for a tasty snack. Your petty crimes have placed you inside the Well where there is nowhere to go but down. Few would be able to survive this encounter, what with starting out as a severed hand in the rubble. But in your journey out of a dark Dante’s Inferno-style bottomless pit filled with monsters and darkness to terrify the soul out of you, the road paved ahead houses secrets, weapons and magic to make your life a little easier. This is Vincent’s guide on the best weapons to use in Lunacid.

Are Weapon Choices Important in Lunacid?

When choosing your character and Class in Lunacid, the primary differences between Classes are the Passive Abilities and Starter Items. Whilst there area difference between the Base Stats, you will easily find that through Levelling Up, you can switch Builds relatively early on in the game. However, when choosing your Build, whether it be focussed around Strength or Intelligence, you will want to have a balance between your weapons. This is because, like with Dark Souls, there are creatures and Bosses that can only be defeated using specific weapons. Some enemies can only be defeated with more elemental damage such as fire, or the use of Magic. But this does not mean that you will need to grind a Magic Build based solely around Intelligence. Instead, you should have a Build that is more versatile in carrying different weapon types during your playthrough.

If you are someone like myself who enjoys playing impatiently, charging head first into the enemy, learning their move sets through the first first and coming super close to dying in the first round, you will want something other than a melee weapon such as the Dark Greatsword. This is because, as mentioned above, going in and hitting the enemy to back away from their attack and rinse and repeat can become tiresome after a while. Regardless of how strong your Build gets with your primary weapon, there are enemies that take little damage from your regular moves. Therefore, you will want to have both a close-range and long-range weapon throughout your playthrough. None of the weapons in Lunacid are particularly bad, especially as you continue to allocate points into your Build which will in turn strengthen the weapon in your hand or enhance them further via Smith’s Grave. However, some are better than others.

Best Weapons to Use

Because of the balance between enemies and their Stats, it is best to focus on two-three Attributes for your Class. Be it Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence. Strength is important for melee weapons, Dex for long-range damage and exploration, and Intelligence for Magic and Mana. This is so that you can hit those critical, heavy hits against enemies whilst being able to deal long-range magic or elemental damage such as the simple use of torches to enemies that are weak against fire. Your long-ranged weapons can be the Crossbow, Bow & Arrow and Spells that require Intelligence so that you can hit enemies that are resistant to melee damage. Any melee weapon can be enhanced further. On the surface of the Great Well you will find that weapons such as the Torch and Heritage Sword are great against enemies. However, when arriving to the Catacombs, you will want Magic and high Mana in order to get through the area alive.

In Lunacid, we highly recommend using Magic and focussing on allocating your Level Up points for Intelligence with a side of Strength/Dexterity. This is because a ton of enemies in the game are weak to Magic and elemental damage. Fire goes a long way and because of this, we highly recommend that the weapon of choice in Lunacid is Magic Rings. In combination with Magic, you should use the weapons: Broken Hilt, Dark Greatsword Bow & Arrow and the Dark Rapier.

The Hilt requires your commitment as it is useless to begin with, but if you have Magic Rings that deal Dark and Fire damage, you will be able to get through areas with ease. Eventually, the Hilt can be upgraded into a Fire Sword and who doesn’t want that? The Dark Greatsword is the enhanced form of the Rusted Sword whilst the Dark Rapier can be found underneath the Castle Le Fanu bridge in Sanguine Sea. The Iron Torch is a good starting place for enhancements as a lot of enemies take critical fire damage but as you progress through Lunacid, it is best to rock either the Greatsword, Rapier or Battle Axe whilst honing in on your Magic.
