Aliens: Dark Descent – All Xenotech Blueprint Locations

New species, new rules

When at war against a new threat, knowing your enemy is crucial not only winning the war, but ensuring your survival at times of despair. The Xenomorph are a horrifying threat with very little weaknesses. Going into the darkness with little to no preparation will leave you bursting at the seams, harvesting a tiny Xenomorph in your belly. Thankfully, research into these horrible creatures has already started, in the form of the Xenotech Blueprints. But finding these is proving harder than expected, especially as you often need to take out the Alien Queens of the nest for the reward of research. But if you want to get ahead of the Xenomorphs, you will want to find the Xenotech Blueprints. Therefore, this is Vincent’s guide on where to find all Xenotech Blueprints in Aliens: Dark Descent.

The Xenotech Blueprints provide research into new gear and equipment that you can use against the Xenomorphs. From explosives to a way to take off Facehuggers, saving your Marines from a horrible death. Keep in mind however that whilst the Blueprints offer new technology to preserve your life against the Xenomorph, you will need to spend Xenosamples every time you want to bring in any of the Xenotech equipment. Because of this, you will want to strategize what you determine to be more of a priority than others. Having the Extractor will be helpful for those who go all-in, regardless of the situation. Therefore, finding themselves attacked by Facehuggers more often than other players.

Almost all of the Xenotech Blueprints can be found upon killing the Alien Queen in most Missions. You can find Queens inside the Missions such as Dead Hills, Berkley’s Docks, Pioneer Station and others. You must kill the Queen on these Maps in order to get the Xenotech Blueprint as she appears to be hoarding the research on her body so that you do not get your hands on it. We highly recommend using fire against her as this, much like in the movies, appears to be a primary weakness for the Xenomorph. Use the environment to your advantage where we recommend planning your route out of the area mid-fight so that you can keep a safe distance away from the Queen. You will need to adopt a multi-tasking approach of moving your squad whilst simultaneously firing at the Queen to tick away that HP.

Whilst some Xenotech Blueprints can be found inside rooms coming off main corridors, these are on Missions where multiple Xenotech can be found. You can find Xenotech Blueprints in Dead Hills (2nd floor), Atmospheric Nightmare (1st floor) and Montero (1st floor), far away from the Alien Queen. Aside from these cases, you will predominately find the research into Xenomorph at the Alien Queen’s location. You can typically find the Queen inside the Basement levels of each Map. You will know when you are close by the change in scenery where the iconic Alien habitat can be seen. From left over skin and bones of past Xenomorphs to the mass amount of Xenomorph honing in on your position to protect their Queen.
