Sonic Superstars is a highly anticipated, upcoming 2D side-scrolling game developed and published by the owner of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, Sega. If you loved playing the classic side-scrolling Sonic games on your Gameboy and Sega Genesis as a kid, then you’re going to fall head over heels for this hedgehog-oriented platformer!
There have been more than a few characters added to the Sonic franchise over the years, so it’ll be interesting to see which characters Sega will choose to add to the game, considering Sonic Superstars is supposed to mimic the classic Sonic games of the past. If you want to find out which characters of the Sonic team made the cut, then you’ve come to the right place!
All Characters in Sonic Superstars
Since Sonic Superstars isn’t due to come out until Fall 2023, not a whole lot is currently known about the game. However, there are a handful of details that can be gleaned from the game’s trailers, including which characters will be featured in the game.
There will be a total of 4 playable characters in Sonic Superstars, and there will undoubtedly be many more NPCs that players will get to interact with. Here are all of the playable and nonplayable characters in Sonic Superstars:
All Playable Characters in Sonic Superstars
There will be a total of only 4 playable characters in Sonic Superstars. Among these four will be Sonic the Hedgehog himself, in addition to Knuckles, Tails, and Amy. Each of these characters will have their own special unique abilities, which will give players incentives to try out each character.
Although Amy’s special ability is not yet known, we do know that Knuckles will be able to scale large cliffs and walls, Tails will be able to fly over large obstacles and onto high platforms, and Sonic will, of course, be able to run at supersonic speeds.
Additionally, this game will also feature a 4 player local co-op feature, meaning you and your friends can vicariously become the classic Sonic team and take down Dr. Eggman together in Sonic Superstars!
All Nonplayable Characters in Sonic Superstars
Although there will only be a handful of playable characters in Sonic Superstars, there will be more than a few nonplayable characters that players will be able to interact with in the game. Enemies will admittedly make up most of these nonplayable characters, but hey, who’s really counting?
The most relevant nonplayable character in the game will, of course, be the evil Dr. Eggman. Dr. Eggman will be the main villain of the game and taking him down definitely won’t be easy, especially since he won’t be the only villain you’ll have to worry about.
Fang, another villain featured in the classic Sonic franchise, will be the second main villain in the game. In fact, Fang will actually be working with Dr. Eggman to take you down! Fang, Dr. Eggman, and Trip, a “mysterious new adversary“, will all actively be trying to stop you from foiling their plans.
All three of these villainous, nonplayable characters will be converting Northstar’s giant animals into Badniks in an attempt to slow you down and take over the world. Badniks are evil robots that only take orders from the Eggman himself, and are also, of course, nonplayable.
In addition to the evil nonplayable characters, there will also be many neutral and good NPCs as well. Unfortunately, however, not many have been revealed to the public yet; this page will be updated when more information regarding this game’s NPCs is discovered!
