Nikita Kucherov made this move famous in 2018 when the former Hart Trophy winner scored a goal during the NHL All-Star Weekend by faking a shot and letting the puck slide past the goalie. But if you want to learn how to pull off this mesmerizing move in NHL 22, you will first need to learn the controls and when you should be using it.

How to do the Fake Deke (Kucherov Deke) in NHL 22

In order to achieve the Fake Deke (Kucherov Deke), you will first need to set your player up in position by using the ‘Stride Deke’. Which can be performed using the following controls;

  1. Press LB/L1 and then shift LS/Left Stick to either the left or the right. Depending on whether your player is left or right-handed.
  2. For left-handed shots, shift the Left Stick to the right.
  3. For right-handed shots, shift the stick to the left.

Once you have successfully activated the ‘Stride Deke’, you will then need to put the puck onto your backhand in order to pull off the ‘Kucherov Deke’. Which can be done by;

  1. Shift the Right Stick/Right Analog Stick to either the left or right. Depending on which hand you want to shoot with.
  2. For a right-handed shot, shift the Right stick to the left.
  3. For a left-handed shot, shift the stick to the right.

And there you have it! That’s all you need to know in order to pull off the ‘Fake Deke’ (‘Kucherov Deke) in NHL 22. Keep in mind that it’s undoubtedly one of the more difficult moves to pull off in the game, so it might work best if you wait to utilize it until you get into a ‘Shootout’ scenario. This way you don’t risk losing possession during vital moments of the game.
