It’s no secret that the sport of hockey is filled with brutal body checks and immense levels of physicality. Although, if you’re hoping to assert yourself in any given matchup, you might feel inclined to take things to the next level, and initiate a fight.

How to Start a Fight in NHL 22

In NHL 22, if you want to start a fight, there are a few controls and fighting tips you should be aware of before you start exchanging blows.

Method #1

The easiest way to initiate a fight in NHL 22 is by pressing Y for Xbox or Triangle for PlayStation before the start of the next play. This will essentially send an invitation to your opponent, to which they can either accept or decline the offer.

If you are on the other end of the invitation and want to accept a fight offer, then you would need to press the same controls (either Y for Xbox or Triangle for PlayStation).

Method #2

Alternatively, you can also start a fight by laying down a hard body check on your opponent or shooting the puck in the direction of the other team’s goalie after the play has finished.

The former method only tends to work on some occasions. But any time you send the puck directly at the opposing goalie after the ref blows the whistle. This is considered ‘taboo’ in hockey and is one of the best ways to get under the other team’s skin and initiate a fight.

Now that you know how to start a fight in NHL 22, the next step is finishing it. The following controls will help you establish your dominance against anyone who dares square up with you.
