How to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

How to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

From its gelatinous pink body to its adorable little derp face, it would not be hyperbolic to say that Ditto is one of the most beloved Pokémon of all time. Even if you didn’t find it all that cute, though I’d find that hard to believe, its utility as a breeding stud is undeniable. After all, Ditto can breed with literally any other Pokémon in the Dex (legendaries notwithstanding), which is much easier than finding two opposite gendered Pokémon who are into each other. Any good trainer has at least one Ditto in the bank, so here’s how to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

There are two ways to find a Ditto, though both of them require you to have at least defeated the Elite Four and enter the Hall of Fame. The earliest place you can check is the Grand Underground, specifically in the Stargleam Cavern and Dazzling Cave biomes. However, this method is a bit unreliable, as Ditto doesn’t have an especially high spawn rate in these areas. As such, let’s move on to the better method.

How to get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

To get Ditto in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

  1. Complete the Sinnoh Dex to unlock the National Dex and obtain the PokéRadar
  2. Go to Route 218, east of Jubilife City
  3. Use the PokéRadar in the tall grass for a chance to encounter a Ditto

Before you can look for Dittos, you’ll need to have obtained the PokéRadar from Professor Rowan. To do that, you’ll need to have completed the Sinnoh Dex by at least seeing all 150 Sinnoh-native Pokémon, which in turn will reward you with the National Dex and the PokéRadar.

Fly over Jubilife City and take the eastern exit into Route 218. Find yourself a patch of tall grass and activate the PokéRadar to make some of the grass shake. Walk into one of the shaking patches for an encounter, and if you’re lucky, it’ll be a Ditto. Even if it’s not, Ditto has a roughly 20% chance of spawning, so while it might take you a little while, it at least shouldn’t take you all day to get one to show up.
