I’ve never been especially great at gauging distances. You tell me something is “a mile away,” and it might as well be on another planet. That gets even worse with metrics; I don’t even know what a single kilometer is in feet or miles off the top of my head. That said, if you play Pokémon GO, you have a great incentive to learn, as you need to walk quite a few kilometers to hatch eggs. 7km eggs in particular require a bit of doing before you can even get to the walking part. Here’s how to get a 7km egg in Pokémon GO.
7km eggs are the third-longest egg to hatch in Pokémon GO, ahead of 2 and 5km eggs and behind 10 and 12km eggs. While not quite a full-on rare egg-type like 12 km eggs, 7km eggs can’t be obtained by spinning Photo Discs and PokéStop signs like 2, 5, and 10km eggs.
How to get a 7km Egg in Pokémon GO
The only way to obtain a 7km egg in Pokémon GO is to receive one as a gift from someone on your friends list. Unfortunately, since the contents of a friend gift are randomized, you’re just going to have to hope you get lucky.
While getting a 7km egg can be a bit of a slog, getting them can be a boon. 7km eggs are the only kind of eggs that hatch regional variant Pokémon, specifically the ones from Alola and Galar. To be even more specific, you can get one of these Pokémon from a 7km egg:
- Alolan Sandshrew
- Alolan Vulpix
- Alolan Diglett
- Alolan Meowth
- Alolan Geodude
- Galarian Meowth
- Galarian Farfetch’d
- Galarian Zigzagoon
- Galarian Darumaka
- Galarian Stunfisk
While this isn’t the only way you can get these Pokémon, it’s certainly easier than trolling around in the wild, so go bug your friends to send you lots of gifts so you can get those 7km eggs.
