EA sent out a Madden 22 Trailer teasing the release of the upcoming installment, with the official announcement set to arrive later this week on June 17th. The trailer shows two Goats busting down these massive barn doors in a 30-second clip from EA yesterday. After the goats break down the bark doors, the video cuts to Peyton Hillis, ex-running back for the Cleveland Browns, on the phone before the video ends.
Hillis garnered massive appeal after gracing the cover of Madden 12 in a Browns uniform but has also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants. While much is still unknown about who the cover athlete will be, we do have more in-depth information on the upcoming cover athlete reveal for Madden 22.
Madden 22 Cover Athlete Leaked
If there are indeed two “GOATS” to be on the cover of Madden 22, then there are only a handful of names that would be worthy of the title. However, we may already have an idea for who EA is referencing with these goats…
A video by NFL Analyst Dov Kleiman shows what appears to be a photoshoot of both Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady from back in April 2021. So, the fact that Kleiman, a well-respected NFL reporter, is releasing this information to the public, along with the EA trailer, just about confirms that both Mahomes and Brady are the two “GOATS” in reference.
As Brady has set the bar for the quarterbacks of the future, this would be the most logical choice, and Mahomes may be the only player talented enough to break that bar. Although, the fact that Peyton Hillis was featured in the video points to the idea that EA could have a running back as their Madden cover athlete. In which case, we can maybe expect to see the 2000-yard man, Derrick Henry, grace the cover.
Regardless, if there are two “GOATS” on the cover of Madden 22, then this would be an epic achievement by EA. It would also be the first time since 2009 that EA has chosen to go with two superstars for the cover of Madden, with Troy Polamalu and Larry Fitzgerald being the latest in Madden 10.
