Who are Bael, Paimon and Balam in Amanda the Adventurer? – Entity and Dynakinesis Explained

For something that consumes children, it has a low body fat percentage

With so many questions on Amanda the Adventurer’s story, many players have settled on the theory that the multi-eyed entity we see in the game is an amalgamation of three Demonic figures – Bael, Paimon and Balam. Whilst some theorise that Wooly represents one of these Demons, being that his identity is unknown and so too is his nature. But moving away from this character, our only sighting of the long-limbed, multi-eyed, Becky with the good hair is within the Bad Endings. But what is this entity? How does it link to the TV Show and the way the cursed videos work. This guide written by Vincent will discuss the various Demons hinted at in the game and their link to Hameln Entertainment and Rebecca Colton herself. Let us dive into it.

What is the Entity?

Our first real question we ask is what exactly is the Entity? We know that this creature is tied to Rebecca herself, being that its physical appearance has links towards Amanda’s hairstyle in the TV Show and the multi-eyes appearing on Amanda when you reject her proposal to help the abandoned Kitten. So we can safely assume that the Entity and Amanda are linked, meaning that Rebecca herself is linked to the creature. The Entity appears out of the TV Show itself, transforming any door in the four walls you are viewing the Tapes in, into a portal to the other side. We can assume then that this is the ‘real’ form of Amanda, exiting out of the Tapes to consume Riley on the other side.

If this is the real form of the Entity, having the mind of Rebecca but presenting Amanda, with the body of a hostile, otherworldly creature, we know that the true physical body of Rebecca is out there…somewhere as she suggests in the Tapes. We see Amanda fighting between both parts of herself, being her true self that questions her reality, forgets key parts of history and her trauma or the trauma of others, likely inflicted by her Entity self. The moments where Amanda breaks is where Rebecca cries out for help, but being that her mind is part of the Entity’s control, no matter if her SOS is heard by children, Aunt Kate or Riley, nothing can be done to help Amanda in the Tape form as she is linked to the Entity.

The Entity appears to have been summoned by the stolen Relics, as seen in the Newspaper Clipping on the back of Sam Colton’s disappearance. The Relics could reference the Demonic Sigils that house Bael, Paimon and Balam, being that to bring these to Earth, a body was required. As everything is purposely placed in this game, there is no way that the stolen Celtic Relics have no meaning towards the story. For this reason, we can assume that Hameln stole these Relics to harness their powers in the form of a TV Show in which it can be constantly changed and manipulated to trick the viewers and lure them into the trap where the Demons consume those that are lost within the Tapes.

Who are Bael, Paimon and Balam?

Whilst there are many theories out there, we have all settled on the thought that Rebecca summoned three Demons on one of the Secret Tapes. These Demons are also listed as Kings within The Lesser Key of Solomon. The first is Bael, a Demon with the power to turn men invisible. Although we know that the children are taken into the TV Show through Riley’s POV of a white door opening out to the other side, we wonder if this is all a hallucination where instead, the children are vanishing without a trace due to turning invisible by the action of Bael. This Demon is also said to enjoy teaching science and love, where Amanda was created as an educational program that also handles relationships such as friendship and family. Whilst this Demon appears in various forms, one is notably a Cat, which could link to the Kitten that is always alone or trapped in the Tapes.

The next is Paimon, a Lucifer devotee. Paimon appears to enjoy sharing secrets and we all know who is obsessed with sharing secrets – Amanda. Supposedly Paimon can only answer truthfully, often showing others hidden treasures, alluding to the Fox and Kitten either being killed or trapped inside the Woods on the ‘Everything Rots’ Tape. Described as a magician, Paimon can bring anything into vision, be that people or objects, he has the ability to make these appear out of thin air. He can also create visions and temporarily animate the dead, although he never brings these back to life. We can see his powers within the Tapes, where anyone who views these is entranced by his music and ability to create whatever he pleases.

We know that the Secret Tapes are linked directly to the TV Show, being offered to players as they solve puzzles after receiving guidance from hints and clues hidden in the episodes. These must have been purposely left by someone, likely either Paimon or Balam. My thinking is that they want you to dive further and further into the TV Show so that you can be tricked and manipulated into sacrificing yourself so that they can feed.

Finally, Balam rounds off the Demon Kings that Rebecca summoned through her incantation. Similar to both Bael and Paimon, Balam is capable of turning people invisible and constructing perfect answers to questions in the form of manipulation. What is interesting about this Demon is that one of his heads is the form of a Ram, linking this Demon directly to Wooly. Could it be that Wooly is actually a manifestation of Balam? Where Bael represents the Entity body we experience in real life when attacked in the Bad Endings and Paimon is Amanda within the TV Show, after stealing her mind and voice to entrance the children with his tricks. Balam appears to be imprisoned, and he requires the sacrifice of souls to free himself from his cell. If he is Wooly, this could be his true intention, to consume the souls of the trapped children so that he becomes strong enough to return.

The Possession of Rebecca

I believe that Hameln Entertainment signed a deal with the Devil, in this case – Bael, Paimon, and Balam who require a body as a host to survive on Earth, or in this case, within the confinement of the TV Show and the sacrifice of children to keep the deal going. The deal likely being sacrificial children for the success of the TV Show. But as it is stated that Rebecca is a special child, the possession works but she is also capable of fighting back against the Demons, trying her hardest to remember the past, other victims and lashing out against Wooly (who may be one of the Demons attempting to safely confine her).

Although we know that Rebecca reacts to a mysterious ‘man’ speaking with her on the headphones upon reading their names out, we do not know that these are the only names she read out. There could have been multiple recording sessions which is why the cameraman attempted to record this specific session, to get on camera. The Lesser Key of Solomon lists a total of 72 Demons, all of which require their own legions of Demons to follow their command. As their summoning has to be linked to the stolen Relics, surely there are more Sigils that are linked to the cursed TV Show rather than just Bael, Paimon, and Balam.

What is Dynakinesis?

Dynakinesis is an interesting factor in Amanda the Adventurer that we get only a glimpse at with Aunt Kate’s post-it notes. Dynakinesis is the manipulation of energy, where anything can be created or changed through the manipulation of already existing energy. For Kate, this may be her explanation of the cursed Tapes and how they have some kind of hold on those who witness the episodes. The use of Dynakinesis means that anything can be transformed in front of you, similar to the fact that Paimon can create visions, manipulate, control minds, and shapeshift. This would match Kate’s interpretation of Dynakinesis and the limitless capabilities of the TV Show.

If Amanda the Adventurer truly had the power to manipulate energy, this would mean that the TV Show we are used to seeing through the Television Screen is more like a façade, meant to absorb the energy of others, likely the missing children, in order to grow more powerful. But Aunt Kate being aware of the Sigils implies that she may have been close to finding out the truth about how the Tapes work.
