How to Get All Secret Tapes in Amanda the Adventurer – All Codes and Secrets Guide

Amanda's mind is rotting, literally.

Once those VHS Tapes are inserted into the TV Set there is no going back. Be ready for the viewing of one of the most messed up Children’s Shows to exist. This may turn you away from Dora the Explorer forever. Amanda the Adventurer is a Horror Game filled with mystery, secrets and disturbing content that can leave you feeling paranoid as if someone is watching you. Imagine putting on your favorite Kid’s Show for the main character to communicate with you telepathically, to not only hear your thoughts but understand the words spoken by other people in the room. Worse, imagine looking at the Neighbourhood, seeing many eyes peering back at you. This game has permanently ruined the innocent googly eyes, taking what was previously a loving gesture in Everything Everywhere All At Once and turning it into the most disturbing thing you can see. Because behind every eye is an entranced child eagerly awaiting the next episode.

If you are a Horror fan like myself, the best content to consume is either pure scares from an atmosphere unlike any other, or to feel completely paranoid/in awe by the ambiguous lore and clever puzzles to progress. Amanda the Adventurer has so much packed into a short Horror experience, all within the setting of an everchanging Attic. This is Vincent’s guide on how to get every secret in Amanda the Adventurer, including those colorful Secret Tapes.

Where to Find All Secret Tapes in Amanda the Adventurer

In your first playthrough of Amanda the Adventurer, you will without a doubt achieve the Gruesome Ending if you go into this game blind. What this Ending does not show you is that you can find Secret Tapes showing backstory to the Amanda the Adventurer TV Show. With key information relating to Rebecca and Sam Colton, how the TV Show was made and the bizarre, yet disturbing events that proceeded after Hamln bought the rights to turn the Show into a Cartoon Animation. There are a total of 6 Secret Tapes to find however, the 6th Tape (Blue) cannot be found in the game through a natural playthrough. Whilst some Content Creators have located this final Tape, it is only through no-clipping out of the Attic that the final Tape is located.

However, if you want to get all Endings, including the more ambiguous The End?, you need to find 5 Secret Tapes. So put that 6th Tape out of your mind for now. For those trying to find these Tapes, this GJ guide will show you everything you need to know. Keep in mind that you can begin finding the Tapes after playing a normal playthrough of the game or if this is your first playthrough, hitting these specific steps listed below to get to the lore of Amanda the Adventurer as soon as possible.

The 5 Secret Tapes can be uncovered by following these steps:

  • First Tape – On the ‘Oh No, Accident’ Tape where Wooly injures his knee, input ‘Nobody’ when Amanda asks who is going to help when you get injured. You will get an Achievement and when you finish the Tape, the First Tape appears.
  • Second Tape – Located in the Alternate ‘In My Neighbourhood’ which is obtained by setting the Oven on fire in the ‘Kitchen’ Tape by inputting 575 degrees and 60 minutes into the Oven inside the Attic after pausing on the picture of the Fridge in the Tape. You need to have the Pause feature, this is inside the Safe, Code is ‘826‘. Complete the Meat Pie puzzle by placing Cheese in Mouse Trap to get dead Rat, pick up Mushroom out of the Wall and grow Potato Plant Pot (Crescent Moon). You will get the ‘Neighbourhood’ Tape after cooking the Meat Pie following the instructions. On the Alternate ‘In My Neighbourhood’ Tape, go to the 24/7 Store to see the Music Sheet. Input ‘FACADE‘ into the Piano in the Attic to get the Second Tape.
  • Third Tape – Grow the Yellow Plant Pot, refer to the Symbol Sheet on the Bulletin Board. Give the Pot to the Red Doll when it is watered and you will have to turn around from her, turn back to her and she will have the Third Tape in hand for you.
  • Fourth Tape – There is a Peach inside the Attic, separate to the other fruit in the game, locate it and place inside the Oven. You need it on 425 degrees and 30 minutes. The Fourth Tape is then given when the Peach Pie cooks.
  • Fifth Tape – At the Petting Zoo, when you reach the Chicken Farm, you need to input ‘Sam‘ when Amanda asks you what the daddy chicken is called. The Fifth Tape is given to you after this.

Remember that you cannot get the 6th Secret Tape in a natural way. This likely will be added into a future update for the game, therefore, it likely was not intended for players to find this Wooly Tape yet. When all 5 Tapes are obtained and you get to The End, you will achieve the Secret Ending ‘The End?’ instead.

All Secrets in the Attic

There is a bizarre secret within Amanda the Adventurer and that is when you get the Bucket out of the Closet. To enter the Closet, input the Code – ‘2862‘. Place the Bucket on the pad in front of the Red Doll and wait until it fills to the top. Once filled, grab a Plant Pot and throw it at the Bucket. A Gold Fish will leap from the Bucket, emptying its contents where you will have to refill with water again. Not going to lie to you, I am unsure about this secret’s meaning and how a Fish can even be inside the Bucket to begin with, or spawn in from the leaky roof but we move.

Input Code – ‘GUTS‘ into Toolbox and chop the head off the Red Doll to obtain Batteries. Input these into the Blabbot via the back compartment. You can find secret phrases where Blabbot will sing to you if you input – ‘040899‘ or if you stand with the Bucket of Water to hear all of Blabbot’s beg for his life and expressing his love towards you. This gives Blabbot sentience, alongside the Red Doll who screams when you use the Scissors on her. As the Attic items are linked directly with the VHS Tapes, I cannot help but wonder if these items are related to the missing children or other people that may have been taken and entrapped into the Show, acting as props to the setting such as hanging meat in the shop, the barn in the Petting Zoo or the bushes and trees in the Woods.

The final secret is the Detective making their appearance at the end of the game but only if you locate the 5 Secret Tapes. The Tapes can be found in any playthrough and added onto the shelving unit beside the Television, therefore you do not need to keep looking for the Tapes if you have already found them. Upon locating the 5th and working to get the True Ending, you will see the Detective just being the credits instead. No one knows who this person is, I wonder if it is Kate, released back into the world by you breaking the ‘We Can Share’ Tape. But we will have to wait and see if more information is given on this character.

All Secrets in the TV Show

There are many weird secrets that you can randomly uncover in Amanda the Adventurer. From Wooly talking to you in the ‘Accidents’ Tapes to him returning once again in ‘Home Movies’ to say that you are running out of time. This short clip is actually from the Demo as Wooly is visually different in appearance to this version of Amanda the Adventurer. The Blue Tape, although uncollectable in the current version of the game, you will see that Wooly’s Show ‘Herd of Mouth’ has the cover set around a Peach. We also know that Wooly is allergic to Apples and yet the cover of Amanda the Adventurer is set on an Apple. Not only this but, there is a Peach hidden in the Attic which when placed in the Oven will grant you one of the Secret Tapes.

There are a lot of links made between animals and fruit in this game. We theorise that the kitten seen trapped in a cage or all alone is meant to represent Amanda, where she wants you to help her. If you repeatedly say ‘No’ to helping the kitten when she is all alone, Amanda will freak out and reveal her monstrous side to you. The fox seen in the bear trap and later drawn by Amanda in a gruesome way in ‘We Can Share’ likely is her father, Sam Colton, as both the Demo and the full release imply that Sam was murdered in the Woods.

In the Alternate ‘In My Neighbourhood’ Tape, Amanda appears more defeated than usual, forgetting information and rejecting her usual ‘bubbly’ self. There is a moment where Amanda does not know who she is buying a present for and she gets increasingly angry when the Candy Store is replaced by the Meat Store. Amanda appears scared by the Meat Store, claiming that ‘there is nothing here that I want’. It begs the question, is the Amanda in the Alternate Tapes a more accurate representation of Rebecca, clawing out from the possession and acting out as a SOS for us to help? Her fear of the Meat Store could be related to seeing her father in the figurative bear trap or because of her link with the Demon, her body being cut up by a ‘Butcher’ in place for the evil being in which she is being a vessel for.

In the same Tape, Amanda reveals that the person she is buying a gift for had something bad happen to them, although we are unsure of who she is referring to. But in the Original ‘Neighbourhood’ Tape, the gift is for Kate. It would make sense that she would refer to Kate as a friend and not Sam. Wooly stops Amanda from experiencing the disturbing memory she was about to remember.
