Best Classes in XDefiant Beta

Ambusher, Controller or Meddler, who do you pick?

FPS Video Games have always been one of the most incredibly popular genres of games since the dawn of the Gaming Industry. Hell, even I grew up on FPS Games with the likes of Freedom Fighters, Black and TimeSplitters. But FPS Games have transformed into a very specific formula within the Free-to-Play world. From realistic weaponry covered in the fanciest of skins to the sci-fi style abilities that accompany the weapons you wield. With Apex Legends, Call of Duty and Fortnite repeatedly leading the charge in this regard, Ubisoft are out to take the throne with their latest Tom Clancy installment: XDefiant. With a title stating its resistance, their new COD Killer is one that combines the gameplay of COD Multiplayer Modes with Apex Legends abilities. For those wondering, these are our recommendations of the best Classes in XDefiant.

Best Classes in XDefiant

Go for All Out Offense with the Echelon

The Echelon will likely be everyone’s first pick when choosing their Class in XDefiant. The reason for this is due to the great abilities for a solo player. Of course, if you are playing with a full squad filled with your friends, having everyone on this Faction may not be the best idea. The reason for this is that its main feature it to turn invisible, much like Sombra in Overwatch. The Echelon acts as the ultimate flanker, being able to get into the best position to ambush enemies and reposition when required. This ability can be used either to get into a great position such as trying to spawn camp the opposing squad, to hide within the contested objective or to reposition much like Wraith in Apex Legends when things get a little too intense for your health.

This Class in XDefiant allows players to move around the map with ease and will reward you with your life multiple times over other Factions. But this Faction should only be used for the solo player, the one that enjoys going off on their own and seeking out all of the kills. It is a highly offensive Faction with a playstyle needed to match that. You cannot play this Faction and look to support your team from the objective. This is one of those roles that are focussed on dishing out damage and to be the top fragger on the team at all times. It is a defence breaker and the number one Faction to be on the lookout for when you are opposing a Echelon.

Become an Impenetrable Fortress with the Phantom

Next, we recommend the Phantom. This is the tankiest Class in XDefiant and one that only the most supportive players should utilize in the game. For comparisons, this is the Newcastle or Gibraltar of Apex Legends and the Orisa or Reinhart of Overwatch. Their focus of abilities is within building a Barrier to protect yourself and your teammates. With XDefiant being a FPS Game whose Game Modes focus on taking an objective as a team, you will need players like Phantom to act as the IGL (in game leader) and support the entire team by being the most important player on the field.

The Phantom will be your first and last line of defence, being one of the highest damage provider in the game. Unlike the Echelon however, you are not required to have multiple Phantoms on the team. However, if you are finding that your defence is being broken far more regularly than you would like, increasing the number of Phantoms on your team can help massively. The way to play this Faction is by gaining the objective first and then setting up your fortress so that the enemies will struggle to take the point back. The Phantom could struggle on a Linear Mode due to the constant moving around of the map, but they are a force to be afraid of in XDefiant.

Cause Mayhem with the DedSec

Finally, the DedSec is by far one the most interesting Classes in XDefiant. Whilst we could recommend the Libertad for their healing of the teammates, this is not a Faction that you want multiple players to use at once in the game. However, a DedSec can cause absolute carnage in the game with their highly unique abilities. Being able to take another Faction’s abilities by hacking the enemy means that you will be the most adaptive on the field. You will not need to regularly switch out from your Faction if the game is not going your way or if you are switching to defence after playing on the offense. Instead, you can stay as DedSec and hack your way into the enemies defence and take their abilities to adopt either a defensive or offensive approach.

To make it even more interesting, you will be able to completely annihilate the opposing teams visibility in the game. By destroying their HUD, Mini-map and abilities whilst stunning enemies if you time your Spiderbot correctly, the opposing team will not know how to counter or control the space with very little information to go off of. This is the best reference towards their Watch Dog days but in terms of comparing this Faction to another game, the DedSec is similar to Sombra’s Ult in Overwatch, Crypto’s destruction in Apex Legends or the Counter UAV in Call of Duty.

That was our listing of the best Classes in XDefiant. Looking for other FPS Games to try out? We have a lot of content for the Apex Legends and Call of Duty players if you are interested in reading more from us.
