How to Hide Enemy Damage Numbers in Hogwarts Legacy

A magical simulation without the combat statistics

Seeing damage numbers is a crucial part of most FPS Games, however the same cannot be said for the likes of the open-world ARPG, Hogwarts Legacy. Whilst it may be interesting to see just how much damage each spell produces against the different enemies in the game, it is perhaps not necessary throughout the entire game. Sometimes it is nice to fully immerse yourself within the world of wizardry. Whilst it is so far from our reality, the display of damage numbers can be both distracting and take away from feeling like a true wizard. Therefore, this is our guide on how to turn off damage numbers in Hogwarts Legacy.

The Purpose of Damage Numbers in Hogwarts Legacy

As this is not a Fortnite or Apex Legends FPS Game, players do not need to worry about the specifics in their damage output in Hogwarts Legacy. For those who want to fully immerse themselves within the wizarding world, seeing how much damage you are hitting when executing spells can get rather distracting. Luckily Avalanche Software have implemented this as a feature which you can turn off. Whilst the game offers many display options for players to choose from, to either enhance the overall look and feel of the game, or to increase its performance by lowering some settings, some gameplay mechanics just may not be necessary. One of these is the ability to see the damage numbers against an enemy.

The damage numbers shown in a fight display how much damage you have hit on the enemy in front of you. Whilst it will tell you how low they are, it can take away from the overall feel of the game. If we saw a giant health bar over Voldemort in that final fight, I think we all would have been highly distracted from the actual intense fight on the screen. This can be the same on Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Disable Damage Numbers

To turn off damage numbers in Hogwarts Legacy, the option can be found under Settings. Instead of having to check high and low across the entirety of the settings however, players can head straight to the ‘User Interface Options‘ Tab. From here, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will find ‘Show Enemy Damage Numbers‘. All you have to do here is turn it off by clicking ‘ON’, switching it to ‘OFF’ to disable this display. With this now turned off, you will no longer see how much damage each spell produces when used in battle. To turn the damage numbers back on, simply click the grey square ‘OFF’ to switch the display back on.
