A lot can change in-between console generations. Metroid Prime originally launched on the GameCube in 2002, and took the gaming world by storm. But, the technology was still limited, at least compared with what we have today. In the original version, for example, when players would shoot a door to a new area, several seconds would pass before the door would open.
This can likely be attributed to the new area being loaded, and this lag was the developer’s attempt at maintaining immersion on behalf of the player. If the door were to open sooner, the player would then be shown an unloaded void, which would interrupt the momentum of the story. But, we live in a future where such tactics aren’t always necessary. So, now that Metroid Prime Remastered has released, players can’t help but to wonder: is this lag still present? Read on to learn everything you need to know!
Metroid Prime Remastered: Do Doors to New Rooms Still Have Lag?
It would seem not. Interestingly enough, this lag was present in the GameCube and Wii versions of Metroid Prime, but not the Switch version. Metroid Prime Remastered seems to take full advantage of the Switch’s improved hardware over its distant predecessors. This could explain why the lag is present in the older versions but not this one.
