Age of Empires 2: Return of Rome Release Date

The Return of Rome DLC was announced all the way back on October 25th, 2022 (the 25th anniversary of Age of Empires), so it’s safe to say that fans have been waiting a long time for this DLC to hit the market. Thankfully, you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to get your hands on this brand-new DLC! There are many conflicting reports online about when this DLC will release, but the general consensus based on the available information is that it will be released sometime in the spring or summer of 2023.

Return of Rome will be the fourth expansion of Age of Empires 2, and although there hasn’t been any new information released regarding the contents of this DLC, we can reasonably assume by its title and the contents of previous expansions that it will add at least a few new civilizations to the game (most likely Rome based).

It’s been heavily rumored that at least one of the new civilizations added by this DLC will be a civilization based on the late western Roman empire. Based on the title of the expansion alone, it wouldn’t be shocking to anyone if this rumor turned out to be true. If this DLC does end up adding a western Roman empire to Age of Empires 2, then fans of the game will have a lot to look forward to when Return of Rome finally hits the market! Get your wallets ready for spring/summer 2023!
