How to Beat The Vigilante in Pizza Tower

Reach for the sky, partner.

If I had a nickel for every game I’ve ever played that involved a living hunk of cheese in a cool adventurer’s hat, I’d have two nickels. Not a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. Even then, I can’t say I’ve ever seen a hunk of cheese in a cowboy hat, and I’ve definitely never had one point a gun at me. Don’t get cheesed off as we tell you how to beat The Vigilante in Pizza Tower.

How to Beat The Vigilante in Pizza Tower

The Vigilante is the second-floor boss of Pizza Tower. He’s the sheriff ’round these parts, and he doesn’t take too kindly to supersonic pizza chefs running rampant through his turf. He’s here to take Peppino’s bounty, but being an honorable sort, he’ll only do it on (more or less) even terms.

The biggest difference between the fight with The Vigilante and Pepperman is that, for this fight, you’ll have a weapon: a revolver provided to you when things kick off. The revolver replaces your dash grab and can be used in one of two ways:

  • Tap the button to fire off a stream of small shots
  • Hold the button down to charge up, then unleash a larger, more powerful shot

The Vigilante will zip along the floor of the room, stopping on the side opposite Peppino before starting an attack. While he’s moving like this, you can’t hit him, but any other time, you can fill him full of lead. You can knock off one of his health points with around six normal shots or two charged shots; use whichever feels more comfortable for you.

The Vigilante has a variety of attacks, more of which he’ll employ as the fight goes on. These include:

  • Shooting at you with his revolver (you can parry his shots with taunts)
  • Dashing at you and sliding
  • Throwing sticks of dynamite
  • Jumping into the air and unloading shots beneath him in a fan pattern
  • Jumping into the air and firing a missile that creates a shockwave along the floor
  • Pulling out a flamethrower and charging along the floor
  • Pulling out a walkie-talkie and dropping a box on you, which contains a bouncing cow

He’ll also drop cardboard cutouts and summon floating ghosts, but these are just distractions and blockades that break in a few hits. Most of his attacks can be simply jumped over, so try to get the timing down and fire off your own shots between his attacks.

Once his health drains out, the second phase starts. He’ll use the same attacks but move at a faster speed. Additionally, the lights will go out, turning everything into a silhouette. Other than that, it’s the same deal as the first phase; just keep firing whenever you see an opening.

When The Vigilante is on his last legs, everything will stop, and you’ll enter a standoff. Wait for the signal, then press the fire button as quickly as you can when it appears to finish him off. Now that’s what I call frontier justice.
