Pet battling is available in World of Warcraft for those who want more activities on top of everything else. What began as non-combat companions to accompany you on your adventures has evolved into its own mini-game within the main game. That’s right, once you’ve finished your Mythic Plus dungeons and need to relax, you can sit back and let your pets handle the fighting. The starting point for your pet battling quest in Dragonflight, is Setimothes.
Somewhere to Start
Setimothes is a Dragonkin located in Thaldraszus to the south-east of Algeth’era. They will give you the world quest “You Have to Start Somewhere.” A Cockroach, a Cat, and a Chicken will make up their squad. To complete both the “Battle on the Dragon Isles” and “Family Battler of the Dragon Isles” achievements in Dragonflight, you must beat Setimothes.
Pet Battle Plan
Pet battles in Dragonflight scale to the level of your pets. For the easiest experience, choose level one pets for this encounter. You should bring one pet with a beast ability, one with a mechanical ability, and one with a magical ability based on the Setimothes pet types.
Iron Starlette is a standout pet for this, since it should be able to beat Setimothes’ first two pets. An Iron Starlette may be obtained via an old Iron Invasions questline or purchased from the Auction House. The final opponent will just require a magical pet to defeat. The Nexus Whelpling and the Stormborne Whelpling are two other notable pets for this encounter, although they are not the only ones.
Beyond the World Quest
The previously indicated method is the easiest way to win. However, if you are a regular pet battler, you will most certainly face Setimothes several times. As previously stated, these are prerequisites for a few achievements.
Battle on the Dragon Isles
You can utilize the same pet archetypes to oppose Setimothes’ pets for this achievement. The only requirement for this achievement is that all of your pets be level 25.
Family Battler of the Dragon Isles
You’ll need a different strategy for this one since you’ll need to beat Setimothes with teams comprised entirely of one pet archetype. Each of the following types—Aquatic, Critter, Elemental, Humanoid, Mechanical, Beast, Dragonkin, Flying, Magic, and Undead—must be used once in this way. As with the previous accomplishment, all of your pets must be level 25.
