The narrative-driven JRPG Chained Echoes has taken RPG fans by surprise and more and more are hooked to this game each day. As a turn-based combat, Chained Echoes is allowing for a lot of strategizing and planning with your characters. Because of that, we decided to delve into the matter of what are the best ways to set up your party formation and win battles.
Best Party Formation Setup
When going into combat you can take up a formation built out of four characters and you should always have different types active in your party (disabler, damage dealer, etc.). However, with the character-switching option, you can have up to eight characters ready to fight.

Your characters can have a backup one of the same type that can be switched during battle without using up a turn. This tag team ally can only be activated if the character on the battlefield is still alive. To link two characters go to the Formation menu and put the two characters together. They will now have the same battle spot.
There are many combinations of heroes that benefit from one another but the best one is certainly the Glenn or Siena with Rob combo. Rob is a disabler that sets up enemies for damage dealers such as Siena or Glenn (Siena being the better choice). Since they work as a combo they shouldn’t be each other’s backup teammates.
Use this character-switching option carefully to get the fully optimized formation and dash out maximum damage at your enemies. More characters mean more skills, and that means more combat versatility. Remember, incapacitated allies can not switch for their backup characters so whenever you notice a character has low HP or even TP, switch them out for the backup one.
