In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, there are many Shiny forms to hunt for in Paldea. Whilst the odds of finding a Shiny Pokémon are 1/4096, this can be increased by using various methods. Such as using the Shiny Charm, Town Method or the Picnic Reset. Game Freak has added the ability to craft special Sandwiches which increase these odds even further. Best Places to Find Shiny Water Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet

| Baculin | West Province (Area One) at the pool of water at the end of the River (on the western side). Here you can overlook the small body of water from above. The spawns will change as you circle this body of water. The second location is inside the River in South Province (Area Five). Follow the River west until you approach the Mesagoza Gate. Use the sandy path that you can climb onto, to reset the spawn of Baculin in this area. |
| Psyduck | South Province (Area Four), follow the River between this Province and South Province (Area Two). Psyduck has a common spawn rate meaning you will likely run into this Shiny Pokémon over many others, various times. |
| Golduck | North Province (Area Two). West of Fury Falls fast-travel spot, you will find the Golduck Pit. Climb south-west out of the area until you find the Pit, located at the top of the cliffs. |
| Finizen | Levincia (South), head down to the Beach and use the Town Method by approaching the side of Levincia by the shallow part of the Sea. This will reset the spawns of East Province (Area Two) on the Beach and in the Sea. |

| Shellos | East Sea Shellos Form – South Province (Area Five) Beach. Reset the spawns by walking along the Beach and returning to the Area Five Pokémon Centre. West Sea Shellos Form – Porto Marinada Beach. |
| Luvdisc | Use the Town Reset Method in the East Paldean Sea on the invisible line in the Sea which lets you enter and exit Levincia into East Province (Area Two). Start against the edge of Levincia, not on the Beach. Use this as your Town Method spot. |
| Dondozo | Casseroya Lake, whilst a Water Sandwich will increase your chances, it will also increase the chances of seeing many other Pokémon in the Lake. This requires you to search the Lake thoroughly, resetting the spawn by sweeping through the area. |
| Vaporeon | Can be found in the Islet Island of Casseroya Lake. Its rarity for Shiny Hunting is similar to that of Dondozo. |
| Buizel/ Floatzel | Find these two Pokémon in North Province (Area Three) Beach. In the shallow part of the Beaches. Sweep through the Beach back and forth to reset the spawns or go into the North Paldean Sea. |
| Arrokuda/ Barraskewda | Can be found in East Province (Area Three), inside the River. Will require a lot of time to find, outside of Mass Outbreaks. Just like Dondozo and Vaporeon. |
| Finneon/ Lumineon | Between Porto Marinada and Asado Desert. In the West Paldean Sea. Located between the rocks and the Desert. Use the Town Method of Porto Marinada to West Paldean Sea. Climb the large rock formations in the Sea north-west of Porto Marinada. Overlook the water where these Pokémon will likely spawn in. |

Shiny Hunting Tips
For Water-Type Shiny Hunting, make sure that you have the Swim ability unlocked for your Miraidon/Koraidon. To unlock this ability you must beat the Open Sky Titan. However, this tip is likely already achieved as players looking to Shiny Hunt are highly likely to be in the post-game of Scarlet and Violet.
Use the Zoom function in Scarlet and Violet to locate Shiny Pokémon from a further distance. That way you can quickly reset the spawns if you do not see the Pokémon you are trying to find. This is crucial when locating Pokémon such as Basculin who has minute differences when it comes to their Shiny form.
Players also have the opportunity to use the Day Skipping exploit in the game to bring forth a new Mass Outbreak into the game. To Day Skip, simply go into your Nintendo Switch Settings and manually change the date to one day in the future. However, you need to do a couple of steps first to Day Skip in Scarlet and Violet:
- First, go to the area in which you wish for the Mass Outbreak to spawn in. For example, trying to catch a Shiny Vaporeon? Go to the centre of the Casseroya Lake Islands.
- Next, use the Picnic function to make a Water Sandwich.
- Open your Nintendo Switch Home Page and scroll to ‘System Settings’.
- Go to ‘System‘ and then ‘Date and Time‘.
- Manually change the date to one day forward, this will bring you a new Mass Outbreak when you return to the game. You do not need to turn the game off to execute a Day Skip.
What is important to note however is that you do not need to do a Day Skip. Whilst it is the fastest and easiest method to Shiny Hunt, it is classified as cheating. However, as the odds as 1/4096, with the exploits of Town Methods and Picnic Resets, for certain Water Pokémon sometimes a Day Skip feels like the only viable methods to catch all Water-Type Shiny Pokémon.
