theHunter: Call of the Wild is about being the best hunter you can be. It mirrors real-life hunts in that you need to track animals and remain diligent. Even if you know where to go, if you don’t know what to do you can find yourself at the end of your hunt empty-handed. This guide will give you some general tips to help you get the kill you’ve always wanted.
How to find Animals in theHunter: Call of the Wild
Much like real estate, hunting begins with location, location, location. You’re going to want to find bodies of water as animals frequently appear in these areas. Depending on the time of day, you’ll get different animals. For example, buffalo drink from around 9 AM to noon while lions drink from around noon to 5 PM.

Once you know when an animal drinks, it’s a matter of staking out the area. Use your binoculars at a distance to see if the animal you want has appeared. From there, you can plan out how you want to approach the situation of hunting it.
If an animal isn’t due to drink for hours or you don’t feel like sitting around, you can track them. Search the ground slowly for footprints as each animal is distinct. Most drink water so you can use those areas as a starting point but for some animals, you’ll need to find them the old-fashioned way. Make sure you stay downwind as your scent carries and can scare the animal. Listen for any noises they make and search the ground for any recent droppings.
