What is a Rock Shiny Sandwich?

The Rock Shiny Sandwich is something that can be made in the Picnic function of Scarlet and Violet. It is a Sandwich with specific powers that aid the player in finding the specific Pokémon-Type of Rock in their Shiny Hunting. The Shiny Sandwich recipes all provide the Meal Powers of:

  • x3 Sparkling Power
  • x3 Encounter Power
  • x3 Title Power

If the Pokémon Shiny Hunting using the Town or Picnic method, players need a method which targets specific Pokémon-Types if one was only looking to collect this type for their collection. The recipes used always incorporate the Herba Mystica, this is the most crucial requirement. Which is why these Shiny Sandwiches are made in the post-game to help players with encountering those rarely seen colourful Pokémon in Paldea. The Meal Powers offered from the Sandwiches can be used in the base-game as a primary function of finding wild Pokémon with increased bonuses. Meal Powers are:

  • Encountering and Catching Chance – increase of encountering all wild Pokémon sizes (small & large), Shiny and Titled Pokémon. The catching increase of wild Pokémon and the increase of Pokémon Eggs.
  • Bonus – EXP and dropped item increase from Pokémon (wild or Tera).

Rock Shiny Sandwich Recipes

  • Intermediate Rock Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x1 Bacon, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Spicy/Sour/Spicy Herba Mystica.
  • Expert Rock Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x2 Bacon, x1 Prosciutto, x1 Red Bell Pepper, x1 Green Bell Pepper, x1 Yellow Bell Pepper, x1 Spicy Herba Mystica & x1 Bitter Herba Mystica.

The reason there are two recipes for players to possibly follow when crafting the Rock Shiny Sandwiches is because players may have already collected a lot of Spicy and Sour Herba Mystica in their playthrough. In previous recipes, it was advised to only use Salty Herba Mystica in making these sandwiches. Leaving a lot of Spicy, Sour, Sweet and Bitter Herbs in the player’s inventory. These recipes listed above allow players to use up those Bitter Herba Mystica.

If you are just getting started on the hunt for Herba Mystica, we recommend opting for the Intermediate Rock Shiny Sandwich. This will save you time and money, aside for the specific search of the Salty Herba Mystica in Raids. This guide will show you where to find the ingredients to make the Intermediate sandwich.

Where to Get Bacon

The core common ingredient of the Rock Shiny Sandwich is Bacon. This makes this recipe easier to complete as opposed to following other Pokémon-Type Shiny Sandwich Recipes. Bacon costs 150 Pokémon Dollars and is purchasable in the, what is probably the most well-known shop in Paldea, Deli Cioso. This food stall can be found in multiple Paldea towns/cities.

  • Mesagoza (western side of the central Paldea city).
  • Porto Marinada (near West Province Area Two & Asado Desert)
  • Artazon (near South Province Area Three & East Province Area One)

Depending on where you are at the time of collecting these ingredients will determine which Deli Cioso you fast travel to. Whether you are on your way to a Mass Outbreak, just finished Raid fighting or looking to execute the Town Method in Artazon. Players can go to their nearest Deli Cioso to pick up Bacon.

How to Get Herba Mystica

As previously stated, Herba Mystica are the primary ingredient used in all Shiny Sandwiches. To obtain these, players much gain access to 5- and 6-Star Raids. These are the steps to doing so:

  • Complete Victory Road, Path of Legends & Starfall Street.
  • Beat Scarlet and Violet’s Final Boss in Area Zero.
  • The game is over when you view the credits. Afterwards, the post-game will begin. Defeat the Gym Leaders of Paldea once more.
  • Win the Academy Ace Tournament.
  • Your access to 5-Star Raids begins. Defeat 15 5-Star Raids to unlock 6-Star Raids.

With 6-Star Raids unlocked, Herba Mystica can be obtained in both 5- and 6-Star Raids. But due to its small odds of finding these also, players should look towards fighting specific 5- and 6-Star Tera Pokémon. The chances of finding Herba Mystica in a Raid are 24% in 5-Star and 28% in 6-Star. These odds are very lower but as there are many Raids to be completed, with the black crystals changing every day, players can farm the Herbs with patience and precision.

Due to little difference between increased chance of obtaining Herba Mystica in 6-Star Raids, we recommend players focus their attention on 5-Star Raids. Use 6-Star only has a secondary option if you were to run out of 5-Star Raids in your search that day. For the Intermediate Rock Shiny Sandwich, players must obtain x1 Salty Herba Mystica. You must also find either Spicy, Sour or Sweet to complete the recipe. The Pokémon you should look for in 5- and 6-Star Raids are:

Salty Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Avalugg
  • Blissey
  • Cetitan
  • Corviknight
  • Dondozo
  • Garganacl
  • Hippowdon
  • Orthworm

Sweet Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Blissey
  • Cetitan
  • Dondozo
  • Goodra
  • Slowking
  • Tinkaton

Spicy Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Annihilape
  • Blissey
  • Breloom
  • Bombirdier
  • Baxcalibur
  • Cetitan
  • Ceruledge
  • Dragonite
  • Dondozo
  • Garchomp
  • Gallade
  • Gyarados
  • Kingambit
  • Mabostiff
  • Revavroom
  • Scizor
  • Salamence
  • Staraptor
  • Tauros
  • Tyranitar

Sour Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Armarouge
  • Blissey
  • Clawitzer
  • Cetitan
  • Dondozo
  • Glimmora
  • Gardevoir
  • Gengar
  • Magnezone
  • Volcarona

It is very important to note that whilst these Tera Pokémon do drop Herba Mystica, you can also increase your odds once more through fighting a smalling batch of Pokémon. Found in both 5- and 6-Star Raids, these Pokémon have the chances of dropping the Herbs of 76% (5-Star) and 83% (6-Star). Therefore, these are the Pokémon you should definitely find when searching for Tera Raids. The list of Tera Pokémon with higher chances of dropping Herba Mystica are:

5-Star Raid Pokémon

  • Gengar
  • Blissey
  • Glalie
  • Drifblim
  • Amoongus
  • Eelektross
  • Dondozo
  • Palafin
  • Cetitan

6-Star Raid Pokémon

  • Blissey
  • Amoongus
  • Vaporeon
  • Dondozo
  • Farigiraf
  • Cetitan

By targeting this small set of Tera Pokémon makes it far more likely for you to obtain Herba Mystica quickly. However, due to its small numbers, it is likely that you will need to return to the 5- and 6-Star Tera Pokémon mentioned above with smaller chances of obtaining Herba Mystica. This depends on your luck in finding these specific Raids to begin with. With the Herba Mystica in hand, players can complete the Rock Shiny Sandwich Recipe. Offer this to your active Pokémon party and see the results in your Shiny Hunt for Shiny Rock Pokémon.
