What is the Judge Feature?

The Judge Feature shows players the Individual Values (IV) of their Pokémon through the levelling-up and battling which you have done with that Pokémon over the course of the game. The IV is a diagram which displays the Pokémon six stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense. By clicking on Judge, it will let the player know how good the IV stats are for that particular Pokémon. If there are no improvements needed for a stat such as HP or Speed, the stat will say ‘Best‘. If the Pokémon requires more work on a certain stat, it will say ‘Decent‘.

The Judge Feature tells players where improvement is needed for their Pokémon. Giving players the insight into how long to level up their Pokémon for, what needs focussing on and how to make the best build possible for your Pokémon. It is a very useful feature that helps tremendously for players looking to create the best Pokémon team possible for PvP and Tera Raids.

How to Get the Judge Feature

You do not get this feature upon completing the three main questlines of Scarlet and Violet. However, this is in fact the first step to getting this feature. This is what you need to do to unlock the Judge Feature.

  • Complete the three paths of Scarlet and Violet: Path of Legends, Victory Road and Starfall Street. Get all 18 Badges.
  • Become the Pokémon League Champion by beating the Elite Four as part of the Victory Road questline.
  • Defeat final Boss of Scarlet and Violet in Area Zero and obtain the Hall of Fame Badge. You know the base game is completed when you see the end-game credits after beating this Boss.
  • In the post-game, first go to a Pokémon Centre to heal your active party Pokémon. You will likely need to do this after the final Boss fight.
  • Visit the Academy Director, Clavell. Straight after your visit go back to any Pokémon Centre. Upon speaking to the Nurse, you will now have access to the Judge Feature.

How to Use the Feature

Once unlocked go into your Pokémon Box via the Main Menu pop-up. Go onto the Pokémon of your choosing by hovering over their icon. Click ‘Check Stats‘ using the + button. Then click ‘Judge‘ by using the + button once more. This will show you the Individual Values of your chosen Pokémon.
