How to Convince the OAP Athletic Team to Play in Soccer Story

One last game.

Athletes typically retire from a professional sport once they get too old to play it safely, or if they sustain a serious injury. In some rare cases, athletes can be forcibly retired, though I don’t think a cataclysmic soccer match is a good enough reason to stay out of the game entirely. Here’s how to convince the OAP Athletic team to play in Soccer Story.

How to Convince the OAP Athletic Team to Play in Soccer Story

In order to hold an official soccer tourney in Soccertown, Owner Bob tells you to find the remnants of the OAP Athletic team, a group of retired soccer players. They’re all living in the care home located west of Soccertown proper, right above your house, but they’re a bit of a crotchety bunch and won’t hit the pitch without a good reason.

Each of the four players makes a different request of you before they’re willing to play:

  • Gravy doesn’t need to be convinced; just talk to him, and he’ll be ready
  • Capri needs an energy drink
  • Sal wants Carrot Soup to help with his joint pain
  • Tobby needs proof you can play
  • Chub will join once everyone else joins

Sal’s Soup

Since your house is nearby, you can do this one first. Talk to your mom to ask for some Carrot Soup, and she’ll request four Golden Carrots. You can find Golden Carrots sticking up out of the ground all over the place and pull them up by sliding over them. Odds are good you’ve already found a few by this point in the game, so just search around the nearby grassy areas to find the rest. Bring them to your mom to get the soup, then bring the soup to Sal to get his OK.

Capri’s Energy Drink

You can score an energy drink from one of the vending machines in Soccertown. Check the first vending machine from the right located next to the entry to the pitch. It’ll be jammed, but if you kick your ball into it, it’ll spit out an energy drink you can give to Capri.

Tobby’s Challenge

Tobby is hanging out on the bench right outside the care home. Before he’ll play with you, you need to prove your skills with a crossbar challenge. Before you can actually take the challenge, though, you need to get a shooting upgrade token from his room. The door to his room is blocked inside the care home, but you can enter from the back door on the building’s back-left side. Grab the token from the chest and upgrade your shooting, then return to Tobby. All you have to do to clear his challenge is hit the crossbars (the top part of the goal) five times in one minute.

Once the last resident is convinced, talk to the care home receptionist, and she’ll agree to set up the game with you. Get ready for a sizzling soccer match against a bunch of old people!
