The return of Pokémon sees the return of TM (Technical Machine) crafting. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is now out, released on November 18th, 2022. Its initial release has not been well received for the many bug issues that players have experienced. From NPC models not loading in fully, camera locking into place and visual disruptions, it is safe to say that this release has disappointed the fans, and rightly so. But for those who are still playing the game, bugs or not, this is our guide to finding the Scyther Claw in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Where to Find Scyther
The Scyther Claw is one of the many obtainable materials used to make TMs. Scyther Claw is obtained by defeating the Pokemon, Scyther. Players can find Scyther in various spots in the Paldea region. These are as follows:
- South Province (Area Four)
- West Province (Area Three)
- Casseroya Lake
- North Province (Area Two)
Players are able to take on Scyther early in the game by visiting the Area Four of South Province. The southern yellow spot on the map above. As players start on the Poco Path, head towards the Mesagoza, through the Mesagoza West Gate.
From here the West Gate bridge, jump off and go across into the South Province (Area Four) passing straight over South Province (Area Two). Now in South Province, traverse through the area, getting to the southern side of this province which is right on the edge of the map. Here, players will run into Scythers. In this area Scythers spawn near water are a minimum level of 18. Scythers spawn regularly throughout the day. These aggressive Bug-type Pokémon will attack even when unprovoked so keep a look out to get the jump on them first.
How to Obtain Scyther Claw
To obtain the Scyther Claw, players must battle and defeat a Scyther. This can be done through automatic or manual fighting. If you have reached Area Four of the South Province quicker than most would in a normal playthrough, it is recommended that you battle through manual fighting as you are unlikely to win on automatic. The best Pokémon to use again Scyther are Fire, Flying, Electric, Ice and Rock. If you picked Fuecoco as your starting Pokémon, then this is the best Pokémon choice to use against Scyther.
If you did not pick Fuecoco as your starting Pokémon, do not worry because there are loads of other options that are strong against Scyther due to Scyther being weak against multiple Pokémon Types. Upon defeating Scyther, its Claws will drop into your inventory. You can now use this as a TM crafting material.
