Where to get the Lucky Egg in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Tasty and beneficial

In the Pokémon series, items held by your Pokémon can have a multitude of benefits. This continues in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. One of the items that players can acquire is the Lucky Egg. Arguably one of the most beneficial items to get for your Pokémon, players shouldn’t skip on getting the egg as soon as they can. Luckily, getting the Lucky Egg for yourself is rather simple, and once acquired, will be staying on your Pokémon, as its benefits are great for getting them up to their maximum potential.

How to get the Lucky Egg?

As mentioned previously, getting the Lucky Egg is a fairly easy process. All it takes is for players to simply play the game as normal. The Lucky Egg isn’t found in the map, but rather given once a specific requirement is met. Players must first defeat five gym leaders, this can be done in any order. After this, progress to the sixth gym, where Mr. Jacq will be waiting for you. Simply talk to him, and he will give you the Lucky Egg.

One note of caution, when playing the story mode, be sure to do so by yourself. Playing online will not allow any progress to count towards your save.

What does the Lucky Egg do?

Once acquired the Lucky Egg will be an invaluable tool in leveling up Pokémon quickly. Once equipped to the Pokémon of your choice, it will grant a bonus 50% of experience to them after battle. With consecutive battles, it’s easy to level your Pokémon up to max level.

There are some downsides to the Lucky Egg however. It takes up your Pokémon’s item slot, meaning you can’t give them Berries or Ribbons to increase stats or recover health. This can leave your Pokémon vulnerable if your strategy requires an item, especially on higher difficulty battles.

The Lucky Egg can only be equipped on one Pokémon at a time, meaning only one will benefit from the bonus 50% in experience. Choose your Pokémon wisely. Finally, the Lucky Egg does not give an experience boost in auto battles. To get the most out of it, you’ll have to do your own battles.
