Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is now out, released November 18th, 2022. A blend of the new gameplay mechanics of Pokémon observation, capturing with Poke Balls outside of battling with the return of the iconic Gym Leader battles. Seeing the new addition of the Paldea region alongside all new Gen 9 Pokémon, Scarlet and Violet offers a new experience for its players. With the return of evolution stones, through exploration or purchase in a store, the stones give players the opportunity to fully explore the vast open world. These are the Moon Stone Locations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Although, as of its initial release there are complaints on the game’s performance. The glitches and bugs will hopefully be resolved quickly with an update.
What are Moon Stones?
Moon Stones are used to evolve a specific set of Pokémon. Examples of Pokémon that can be evolved are:
- Jigglypuff into Wigglytuff
- Nidorina into Nidoqueen
- Clefairy into Clefable
- Munna into Musharna
As of Scarlet and Violet’s initial release, it is only certain that the Moon Stone can evolve Jigglypuff as the Pokedex does not include the other examples on the list. However, it is likely that a new unique set of Pokémon can be evolved with the Moon Stone as Scarlet and Violet introduces 100+ new Gen 9 Pokémon into the new Paldea Pokedex.
Moon Stone Locations
These are the two locations you can find the Moon Stones in the Paldea region.
- In this great crater area, resembling a dried-up riverbed, walk through, passing Shinx Pokémon. You will see an area of grass with a tree, the only bit of nature in this corner of the riverbed. The Moon Stone can be found here, noticeable by the beam of light as the object indication for players.
- This one is very easy to find. This Moon Stone is located behind the Porto Marinada Lighthouse.
Those are the current Moon Stone locations found in the region of Paldea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Moon Stone cannot be purchased in Paldea stores, unlike the Fire and Water Stone. Because of this, the only known Moon Stone Locations are listed above. For more Pokémon Scarlet and Violet content, see our related article: How to Soft Reset in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
