What Pokemon game would be complete without a fiendish Team of some sort with goals of world domination? Well, sometimes it’s a lot simpler and sillier than that in later games. For Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Team Star seems to just be a bunch of punk students who don’t want to go to class. Regardless of how dastardly they are or aren’t, the song remains the same. Team Star wants to cause trouble and it’s up to you, the meddling kid. There are a few Crews within the Team Star grouping, and each Crew Leader you’ll have to challenge each. For the Dark Crew, it looks like a tech geek of some kind, Giacomo. Here’s how to beat Giacomo in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Beat Giacomo
Giacomo is fairly simple and possibly the weakest of the Crew Leaders for Team Star. With only two pokemon, you can fairly sweep him with the right know-how. Giacomo, despite being the leader of the Dark Crew, has two steel-type Pokemon.
First up is a level 21 Pawniard. Pawniard is a Dark and Steel-Type Pokemon with relatively weak physical defense. As long as you have a strong Fighting-Type attack or Pokemon with strong Fire-Type moves, you could almost one-shot Pawniard guaranteed.
Pawniard is really small potatoes compared to Giacomo’s second ‘Mon which is quite a new unique setup for an enemy Pokemon. There is a new type of Steel Pokemon introduced in this generation called Revavroom. Revavroom looks a bit like a car engine. Like some previous Pokemon, it seems to be able to attach to inanimate objects, to vehicles more specifically. This Revavroom is attached to Giacomo’s Segin Starmobile and is level 20.
Revavroom
That’s right, technically you’re fighting a giant car. While Revavroom is part Steel-Type so Fire and Fighting attacks are once again your best option, it is also part Poison-Type which makes it a bit resistant to Fire-Type attacks. This means you might want to focus on Fighting-Type attacks if you can. Although this won’t be as easy as that since Revavroom also has the Intimidate ability which cuts your Pokemon’s attack power in half. So you might want to swap in and swap out the ‘Mon you’re really going to use for this battle.
Revavroom’s move set consists of Snarl, Metal Sound, Swift, and Wicked Torque. Metal Sound lowers your Pokemon’s defense gradually. Snarl and Swift are regular Normal-Type attack moves. However, they can add up on damage combined with Metal Sound. The real move to watch out for is Wicked Torque. This is a new Dark-Type attack move and seems to be Revavroom’s specialty. It can do some high damage so keep an eye out for your Pokemon’s health bar.
That’s all there is to really know about Gaicomo and his team. As long as you keep your defense up and heal when needed, using Fighting and Fire-Type moves makes this a quick walk in the park.
