How to Find Halos in Bayonetta 3

Supply and demand.

In the first two Bayonetta games, Halos dropped by Angels of Paradiso were your primary currency. You bring them to Rodin, he trades them to his demon buddies, and he gives you cool stuff in return. However, in Bayonetta 3, the whole system of commerce that Paradiso and Inferno have going has been thrown out of whack, which means you need to get a little more creative if you want Halos. Here’s how to find Halos in Bayonetta 3.

As Rodin explains the first time you visit the Gates of Hell, the invasion of the Homunculi has disrupted travel between the realms, which is why Angels are no longer your primary antagonists. Rodin is willing to take Homonculous Seeds as payment for Items and Accessories, but if you want to buy any of his Treasures, he’ll only take Halos as payment.

In the Rodin’s Treasures menu of the Gates of Hell, you can buy Coutre Bullets that change Bayonetta’s outfit, Colour Bullets that let you customize the color on her outfit and hair, and assorted knick-knacks for Viola’s room in the level select menu.

Where to Find Hidden Verses

So how can you get Halos without fighting Angels regularly? Simple: Hidden Verses. Almost every level of Bayonetta 3 has a handful of Hidden Verses, combat encounters that aren’t part of the critical progression path. Some of these Hidden Verses will be against Angels instead of Homunculi, and if you can dispatch them quickly and flashily, you’ll still get big Halo payouts.

If you’re on the lookout for Hidden Verses, press the Left Stick button to determine which direction is actual level progress, and then go pretty much any other direction. Odds are good you’ll encounter all kinds of goodies, including Umbran Tears of Blood, treasure containers, and Hidden Verses. The ones you’re specifically looking for take the form of geysers of bright, yellow light poking up out of the ground. Touch one of these, and you’ll be launched into an encounter with some Angels.

In the event you miss a Hidden Verse, there will be an empty slot in the line of coins that appears whenever you complete a Verse. In some cases, you can manually backtrack to look for it, but otherwise, you’ll just need to beat the level and come back later via the level select menu.

If you luck into some Halos, remember to save and spend them wisely! They’re not as common as they used to be, so only spend them on the stuff you really want!
