Bad Ending

The Bad End is the default ending to the game’s conclusion. As players lose Maina on day 4, after being attacked by the ghost, her sister Erena comes to the bathhouse to look for her. We then play as Erena, who also moves in, hoping to find her missing sister. Simply play the game as you normally would, and you will obtain the default Bad Ending.

Good Ending

You will need to get the Sweet Potato and the Japanese Doll. These are obtained when you play as Maina on Day 3. The criteria to activate the Good Ending is:

  • Find and return Umeki’s (the Candy store owner) cat to receive the Japanese Doll and Chest Key
  • Correctly answer the 5 questions given by Imojiro (the potato man) to receive the Sweet Potato. The 5 correct answers are: Dirt, Autumn, Yes, Morning Glory and Stone Baked.

Continue playing as Maina as you normally would until she goes missing. As Erena you will need to follow these steps to achieve the Good Ending:

  • Go to Room 205 and pick up the doll in the corner, throw the Japanese doll away in the Trash Area underneath the sitting Crow.
  • Find Apartment 203 Key in the corner of the women’s bathroom.
  • Donate the 5 Yen you got from the man in the black hoodie to the Shrine. Pull out newspaper piece A (1/3) from the Omikuji box beside the Shrine offering.
  • Go into Apartment 203 where you fill find newspaper piece B (2/3) on the Japanese Doll in the centre of the room. Search underneath the Tatami where you fill find newspaper piece C (3/3) and Yoko’s diary.

  • Get the Sweet Potato out of the 203 fridge and give it to the Crow by the trash area. The Crow will drop a shoe locker key where you will find and pick up the Trash Area key.
  • Unlock the Trash Area door and pick up the Drain Tube. Use this to complete your work task of washing the towels
  • Pick up the firewood by the Shrine and take it to the Boiler Room. There are Tongs beside the left boiler, pick these up and open each boiler, putting firewood inside. In the last boiler (the one on the far right) you will find a key.
  • Exit out the boiler room via the door with police tape on it. In this area you will find an outside hatch. Go down the hatch.
  • Search the cave area. Pick up the bolt cutters beside the Summoning of Ubume book.
  • There is someone chained up in this area. Free them using the bolt cutters. This is the most crucial part. You MUST free this person to achieving the Good Ending.
