How to Unlock All Secret Characters in The DioField Chronicle

The finest soldiers around.

I’ve never waged a medieval fantasy war myself, so maybe I’m out of my element here, but when someone starts building an army, I feel like everyone is supposed to show up for it. Why is it that the strongest, coolest dudes always seem to skip out, though? I guess we have to go drag them to the battlefield. Here’s how to unlock all secret characters in The DioField Chronicle.

How to Unlock All Secret Characters in The DioField Chronicle

The DioField Chronicle features a total of 16 main characters you can recruit to your burgeoning army. The majority of these characters are automatically recruited to your cause over the course of the game’s story, but there is a small handful of them that aren’t.

These characters, three to be precise, are tied to the accomplishment of certain sidequests. If you miss these sidequests, you won’t be able to backtrack to unlock them later, so keep your eyes peeled!

The secret characters are as follows:

  • Donovar Sullion the Soldier
  • Zoruaq Qigan the Cavalier
  • Chappleman the Cavalier

Donovar Sullion will join your side if you complete the Chapter 2 sidequest “A Shield For the People.” You can pick this quest up by speaking with Lorraine at the chapter’s start. Donovar is heading up a defensive force protecting a small village from bandits, and will join you if you go and help out.

Zoruaq Qigan, who is also Izelair’s dad, can be recruited if you complete the Chapter 4 sidequest “A Warrior Gets His Wings,” which becomes available after completing the quest “Truth and Lies Laid Bare.” You’ll need to complete the mission “Winged Mercenary” with his assistance.

Chappleman will join up after completing the Chapter 6 sidequest “Give to Those Who Reach Out,” available shortly after the chapter begins. No, I don’t know why he doesn’t have a real name.

While these characters are not required to beat the game, they are powerful units to have on your side. Their presence certainly won’t hurt you, that’s for sure.
