How to Get Prospector’s Gear in Bear and Breakfast

There's gold in them hills.

A stereotypical prospector is usually portrayed as some scraggly old guy with nothing but a pickaxe and a funny hat, but in real life, prospecting requires a suite of specialized tools. It’s not just about hitting rocks, you also need to set up cordons, perform delicate work, and repair things. This is why the Prospector’s Gear is such a vital item in Bear and Breakfast. Here’s how to get Prospector’s Gear in Bear and Breakfast.

How to Get Prospector’s Gear in Bear and Breakfast

The Prospector’s Gear is an important progression item in Bear and Breakfast. It serves dual purposes, both being used for repairing certain objects around Silver Valley and for clearing away rubble and landslides. You’ll need the Prospector’s Gear in order to continue exploring past a certain point in Bear and Breakfast’s story.

You can get a couple of sets of Prospector’s Gear for free, but they are consumable, which means you’ll need to have a source for more of them when the free ones run out.

Two free sets of Prospector’s Gear can be sourced from Old Chests in Pinefall and Darkgrove. The former is located right next to one of Hank’s B&B locations, while the latter is located in the area’s prominent cave.

Beyond the free sets, you’ll need to buy additional sets of Prospector’s Gear. You’ll find them at Oliver’s Toolbox, a small shop located at the Timber Crossing bus station. Oliver will start stocking Prospector’s Gear after you complete the quest “Pinecall,” when Barbara first invites you to Pinefall. To get to that point, you’ll need to have completed most of Winterberry’s story quests, then complete the quests “Lost Signal” and “Help the Old Lady.” Once you have free reign of Pinefall, Oliver will have Prospector’s Gear in stock, albeit at the slightly exorbitant price of 1,500 coins a pop.

Make sure you use your Prospector’s Gears wisely because you’ll probably have to save up a bit to afford more of them. Clear out the important locales before you start opening up shortcuts, for instance.
