How to get to the Barren Wasteland in Potion Permit

To the Wasteland!

In the southmost region of your map in Potion Permit is the third and final area of the game, the Barren Wasteland. To get there you need to have reached the second area, Glaze Iceberg, first. You are able to come to the broken bridge of the Barren Wasteland before that, but you have to earn your second badge promotion first in order to fix the bridge and enter the wasteland. Here is how you get your second badge promotion and enter the Barren Wasteland.

Second Badge Promotion, Approval Badge 3

Once you fulfill all the quests in the Glaze Iceberg area, you’ll be prompted to take your Second Chemistry Test. After you’ve succeeded in your test you will receive another Letter of Recommendation. This time it’s for your second promotion. Like your first promotion, you’ll take this letter to Myer, who is usually in Town Hall, and he will grant your promotion and you will have your Approval Badge level 3. You will now have access to several new potions as well.

Fixing the Broken Pipe to get to Barren Wasteland

With your new Approval Badge level, you now have permission to start working on the geyser blocking the way on the broken bridge to the Barren Wasteland. Analyze the area, Bubble and Forrest will recommend you speak to Yorn to help fix the broken pipe causing the geyser.

A series of events will occur, some back and forth between Yorn and Olive. Olive, the owner of the bathhouse, will give you a pipe manual after Yorn’s suggestion. Give Yorn the pipe manual and he will send you on a side quest to gather materials to fix the broken pipe. You will need 10 silver nuggets and 5 sour-tasting Saps. You can find both of those in Glaze Iceberg.

One last fix to Barren Wasteland

Once you’ve given Yorn the materials and he’s fixed the pipe, go back to the bridge you can now repair the bridge itself. This is the last area so the price is pretty high. You will need 5,000 gold, 2,000 wood, and 1,575 rocks.

Once you muster up all the required material you’ll finally have full access to the Barren Wasteland and everything it has to offer as you head into the home stretch of the end game.
