How to Encounter and Beat Kojira in Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed

AAAH! RUN! IT'S KOJIRA!!

In Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed, humans aren’t the only ones you need to destroy. In fact, completing the Takoshima storyline will result in your having to defeat a kaiju. Kojira may have been a human once, but thanks to the KGB, she’s become a large, lizard kaiju. It doesn’t help that fighting her feels like you’re actually fighting a kaiju. You’ll quickly find that your attacks don’t do much to Kojira, because the bosses in this game are damage sponges. Here’s how to encounter and defeat Kojira in Takoshima.

How to Encounter Kojira

In all fairness, because this boss is somewhat isolated from the rest of Takoshima, we won’t be going too in-depth with regards to the missions. It’s pretty cut and dry. It should be noted, however, that these are the missions you’ll have to complete before you get the chance to fight against Kojira:

  • Takoshima Story
  • Revenge of the Ninja
  • Dr. Go!
  • Our Man Crypto
  • You Only Live 137 Times

As you escape from the volcano base at the end of You Only Live 137 Times, you’ll see Pox, who’ll give you the mission to defeat Kojira. Enjoy this cutscene, because it’s especially funny. And because it’s the last bit of joy you’ll experience until beating this boss. It’s very difficult, y’all.

How to Defeat Kojira

It should be noted that, at least in the first phase, it’s best to avoid trying to damage Kojira with your saucer’s weapons. You’ll quickly realize that they don’t work. As frustrating as that can be, there’s a method to the game’s madness. In this first phase, your goal should be to destroy the buildings before Kojira has a chance to absorb them. But, Kojira won’t take that lying down — she’ll bombard you with attacks, and you also have to fend with the missiles launched by the Black Ninjas. So, it’s a lot.

But, if you can make it to a certain point, the game will auto-save. This means, of course, that dying will let you start from the second phase, which … is a headache unto itself. Pox will inform you that your saucer’s weapons are ineffective against Kojira — GEE, THANKS, POX — so you’ll have to proceed on foot and use the weapons in your arsenal to take her down. I warn you: you will not have enough ammo to beat Kojira. If you’re not comfortable using the transmogrify function to spawn more ammo — you’re about to be.

From here, it’s all about shooting Kojira until she dies. I recommend the Disintegrator Ray, but I also used the Zap-O-Matic (despite it having virtually no effect on Kojira). This phase is a bit more tolerable thanks to the fact that your health can replenish if you go so long without taking damage. At some point, Kojira will collapse, at which point you just need to keep unloading bullets into her. You may think they aren’t making a difference at first, but trust me when I say that her health is going down. In due time, and with enough patience to supply a small army, you’ll overcome your scaley nemesis and move on to Tunguska.
