How to Beat Coyote Bongwater in Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed

What's in a Name?

In Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed — a game which initially released in 2006 — the writing has been left undisturbed. There’s a debate to be had on whether that’s good or bad, but at the very least it’s entertaining. It’s thanks to this relic of a bygone era that the first boss — if you can really call him that — is named … Coyote Bongwater. In any case, here’s how to encounter, and beat this debut supervisor.

How to Find Coyote Bongwater

Mission: Where Have All The Flower Children Gone?

In order to fight Coyote Bongwater, you must first find him. It all begins with the quest entitled “Where Have All The Flower Children Gone?” which can be activated by speaking with Pox after the first mission. Pox will tell you about an individual who goes by the name of “The Freak,” who apparently “knows what’s going down on the streets.” Thankfully, he’s not too far away, so nab a hippie meatsuit and approach him.

The Freak will inform you that Coyote Bongwater invited the KGB to launch their attack. Also, he’s been distributing a new … drink? drug? called Revelade, which you’ll have to deal with at some point. In any case, head for the yellow marker and you’ll come across Coyote Bongwater’s private residence, where he’s just finishing up with some … questionable … activities.

Mission: They Shoot Hippies, Don’t They?

If you thought you’d finished associating with The Freak, good news! And, by “good news,” I mean … go find The Freak! As before, you’ll need to find and hijack a hippie’s body in order to speak with him. The Freak will inform you that Coyote Bongwater has concocted a new plan to distribute Revelade. His new plan is to gas the entirety of Bay City … which is where you come in!

But, before we can jump in our saucer to unleash some heck, we’ll have to find a landing zone, and repair the saucer’s damage that it took getting here. In order to complete the repairs, we’ll have to find and collect a series of datacores containing repair pods! Who doesn’t love a good fetch quest? Thankfully, this fetch quest isn’t too exhausting. Find the datacores and head back to the landing zone.

It’s then that you can finally complete the task at hand — decimating the Revelade blimps! It’s not terribly difficult, just focus on completing the task.

Mission: The Alien Who Probed Me

UGH. Go find The Freak … again. He’ll inform you that no one has seen Coyote Bongwater since his plan to gas Bay City was foiled (by you). Nobody … except his protégé, Prudence. That’s as good a lead as any.

Follow the yellow marker to find Prudence — still disguised as a hippie — and speak with her. In-between her passive-aggressive jabs at her rich parents and her propagandistic praise of Coyote Bongwater, she’ll spill the beans about his next plan involving Revelade. Turns out, he’s gonna pour the stuff into the bay!

This mission tasks you with destroying the various Revelade trucks both parked nearby and driving to the location of Coyote Bongwater. It can, admittedly, be a bit of a slog catching up with the trucks on foot, so you might wanna try making use of the hover boots or finding a car to ride atop. Once they’re destroyed, you’ll proceed towards Coyote Bongwater’s lair. You’ll have to use a Cortex Scan to find the exact location.

You’ll find out in no time that the path to Coyote Bongwater’s lair is through the nearby tunnel. Follow the yellow marker as you’ve done all the way until now and you’ll find yourself in a battle with Bongwater.

Battle with Bongwater

This boss, like with most bosses in this game, aren’t exactly difficult. Coyote Bongwater will shoot you with Revelade, which will alter the surrounding scenery to resemble a twisted, toxic library. If you can dodge the Revelade shot, you’ll fulfill the Optional Objective, but it’s not necessary to beat him. Just hold onto your Zap-O-Matic and follow Bongwater around the arena, shooting when you can. It really is a matter of tanking him until you emerge victorious, whilst avoiding any minions and their attacks.

Get to the end of this battle and you’ll have beaten Coyote Bongwater and gotten the Disintegrator Ray.
