During the Nintendo Direct on September 13, Factorio was announced to be receiving a Switch version. Factorio — a factory management simulator — initially released in 2020 for the PC. According to the Factorio team in a blog post, all the game’s content will be available when the Switch version launches. And, while there will be no mod support, Factorio will support online multiplayer and cross-platform play. When can readers expect to get their hands on this new version of Factorio, however?
When Does Factorio Release for Switch?
Factorio will release on the Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022. According to the abovementioned blog post, no expense has been spared in terms of quality. Players can expect to enjoy Factorio in 30-60 FPS in both handheld and docked mode.
“As for UPS, the average player should be able to go through all of the content and launch a rocket, while staying at 60 UPS,” wrote programmer Robert Asaftei, also known as Twinsen. “But don’t expect to be able to build mega-bases without UPS starting to drop, sometimes significantly.”
Here is an official description of Factorio, via the game’s page on Steam:
“Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories. You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. In the beginning you will find yourself chopping trees, mining ores and crafting mechanical arms and transport belts by hand, but in short time you can become an industrial powerhouse, with huge solar fields, oil refining and cracking, manufacture and deployment of construction and logistic robots, all for your resource needs. However this heavy exploitation of the planet’s resources does not sit nicely with the locals, so you will have to be prepared to defend yourself and your machine empire.”
