Vampire Survivors Konami Code

Vampire Survivors Konami Code

It’s kind of sad that Konami lets a lot of their major IPs go by the wayside. Did you know it’s been eight years since the last new Castlevania game? All we’ve gotten since Lords of Shadow 2 is ports and collections. I guess that’s why indie developers take it upon themselves to make the games the big guys don’t feel like making. Take Vampire Survivors for instance; it’s a simple roguelike beat-em-up game that utilizes Castlevania’s general aesthetic, and in just a few months, it’s become a smash hit on Steam.

Still, the developers of Vampire Survivors clearly have a soft spot for Konami’s golden years, not just for the obvious artistic inspiration, but for an easter egg they included in the game. In Vampire Survivors, it’s possible to use the classic Konami code to unlock some goodies, the same Konami Code that granted you 20 extra lives in Contra way back in 1988.

To use the Konami Code in Vampire Survivors, all you have to do is go to the game’s home screen and enter the code in using the keys on your keyboard. For the few of you who don’t know the inputs off the top of your head, the code is:

  • Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, ESC, Enter

Type that in using the arrow keys. Do it quickly, as if you’re too slow, it won’t register. If you successfully input the code, you’ll hear a distinctive sound effect. Entering the Konami code will get you 2,800 free gold, plus an instant unlock on the character Mortaccio, who you’d usually have to unlock by killing 3,000 skeletons.

While we’re on the subject of codes, there’s an additional code you can use on the home screen to unlock the secret character Exdash Exiviiq. All you have to do is type in this exact sequence:

  • x-x1viiq

There’s no text field to enter this, so don’t bother trying to copy and paste it. Just type it in, and if you hear the sound, Exdash Exiviiq will be unlocked.
