Tecmo Bowl has run simulation and predicted the outcome of an upcoming mega match. It is great to see a retro video game take a leap to peek into the future.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will face each other in the Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, 12 February 2023. While everyone is excited to watch the match pan out, gamers were busy running simulation on the Madden 23 video game. However, the people at Tecmo Bowl released results of some official simulations. They have utilized an updated ROM of the Nintendo Entertainment System classic “Tecmo Super Bowl.”
Predictions of Tecmo Bowl
There is little good news for the Kansas City Chiefs. According to simulations, Philadelphia Eagles will halt Chiefs in their tracks, even though Patrick Mahomes will manage to get a decent game. Eagles’ quarterback, Jalen Hurts will cause colossal problems for Kansas City. Although the simulations aren’t an absolute mirror of reality, they have produced some respectable scenarios. For example, Kansas will struggle with their offense in the later stages, which we have seen in the past performances.

As the match progresses, Philadelphia Eagles take the game to overtime. Although Kansas City Chiefs try to surprise Eagles with an onside kick, the plan fails. Eagles win the game with a score of 27-24 in overtime. Note that the simulations don’t consider the new NFL’s overtime rules, which would give Kansas possession of the ball one more time.
Winning and losing aside, the simulations were fun to watch. Obviously, there is little to no meaning in matching them with the real world match.
