The journey of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been a long one. Originally the game was announced back in 2010 but after layoffs, controversy, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, its release is not finalized yet. Despite this, progress on the game has been made and, as of now, it will be released in 2023. This week, GSC Game World surprised fans by releasing a brand-new trailer featuring gameplay and screenshots, showing that game development is still ongoing despite the war in Ukraine.
New S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Gameplay and Screenshots Revealed
The newest S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl trailer is filled with open-world gameplay showing gun combat as well as impressive graphics. We also get a look at some of the game’s cutscenes which help paint a picture of what’s to come in the story. Along with this trailer, we also get a few screenshots as well. The game takes place in an area of Chornobyl known as the Zone. This area is filled with mutated creatures as well as bounty hunters, such as the game’s protagonist, known as stalkers. GSC Game World decided to dedicate this trailer to those Ukrainians who have died fighting during Russia’s invasion of the country. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S when it launches next year. It will also be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

What is the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series About?
Made up of four games, including the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise takes place in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in the wake of the nuclear meltdown that took place in Ukraine in 1986. Players usually take on the role of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which stands for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers. Stalkers enter the Zone searching for valuables and also have to contend with the various factions that occupy the area as well as creatures mutated by radiation.
