Much like in any game that involves the catching and training of various monsters (we won’t name names), there’s a good chance a single play session of Monster Hunter Stories 2 can go for hours on end. Speaking as someone who has lost multiple hours of busywork to carelessness, I cannot over-stress the importance of regularly saving your progress. You do not want to deal with the burst of existential dread that follows lost progress. Here’s how to save in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
As any modern game should, Monster Hunter Stories 2 does feature an autosave system that will save your progress at regular intervals. However, the autosave is not infallible, so if, for example, you spend a lot of time in a single area of the field without leaving, you might not get an autosave trigger. As such, you should periodically perform a manual save to ensure you don’t lose anything important.
How to Save in Monster Hunter Stories 2
There are two ways to manually save your progress in Monster Hunter Stories 2. The first is your bedroom at home, which you’ll be introduced to promptly when you first start the game. Just take a quick nap in your bed, and you can manually save your progress.
The second method is to make use of the Catavans. The Catavans and the Catavaneers that run them function as the game’s fast travel system, picking you up and dropping you off at designated points all over the map. There is a brief period early in the game when you won’t have access to the Catavans, but once you do gain access as part of the story’s progression, you can talk to them to save your progress whenever you want.
Do note that you have three manual save slots available to you, as well as one autosave slot. If you’re sharing your copy of the game with someone else, remember to save your progress in a separate slot, as the autosave will be overwritten with the progress of whoever played last.
