10 years after Counter-Strike 1, with its Servers being left in the dust, Valve Corporations have returned to bring faith back into its loyal fanbase. With many fans and new living and breathing the world of CS:GO only, old fans of Counter-Strike will get to see the original make its return. Counter-Strike 2: Sequel or Update?
Whilst the return of Counter-Strike is an exciting one, especially for those loyal fans of the first installment and of CS:GO, with those who dedicate a lot of time within the game possibly getting rewarded with participation in their Limited Test. However, the strange thing about Counter-Strike 2 is that it will not be a full release of a game. Rather it appears as an update inside CS:GO itself. So not only will some players get an invitation via CS:GO but when Counter-Strike 2 releases for the public in Summer, 2023, you will not be purchasing this game on Steam.

Instead, Counter-Strike 2 will appear as an extension of CS:GO’s life, possibly as another Game Mode similar to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s Warzone and DMZ. It is an interesting choice and one that will definitely get the fanbase excited. What is curious is whether this update will be free for those who already have CS:GO or would they have to pay a one-time payment for Counter-Strike 2 as if it was a DLC. But Valve seem to be putting their all into CS:GO and extending its life for as long as possible.
