How to Make Tier 3 Potions in Potion Craft

Organize your recipe book by potion type or tier and make sure to include multiple tiers for each potion type. This is especially true for healing potions, as people need them frequently. Living in your medieval village is dangerous business, and people hurt themselves all the time when they deal with livestock and such.

Getting a tier 3 potion in Potion Craft is mind-blowingly simple in concept — but due to the mechanics of map navigation, it’s still a challenge. Your alchemist simulator gets pretty complex pretty fast, but it’s still fun to play and learn as long as you can find the right tips for making it happen.

Tier 3 potions are required to complete certain quests and to work your alchemy machine in the basement — when you begin the game, your alchemy machine is an embarrassing pile of junk, but tier 3 potions help it come to life.

Tier 3 potions in Potion Craft also fetch more money with your regular customers. Even if they don’t specifically ask for a super effective potion, many customers will still pay more for the tier 3.

What Is a Tier 3 Potion in Potion Craft?

Tier 3 potions don’t necessarily involve more ingredients, but they are stronger than tier 1 and tier 2 potions. To get a tier 3 potion in Potion Craft, you have to align your potion exactly over the outline of the potion bottle before using your bellows to finalize it.

Practice With Healing Potions

The healing potion bottle on the map is pretty easy to get to, especially if you have an abundance of Terraria. Plus, your customers always need healing potions — they’re the best to keep on hand.

If you fail your tier 3 potion, it’s not a big deal, because you’ll never run out of a need for tiers 1 and 2.

  • To create a tier 1 potion, you need your icon to enter the outline of the potion bottle on the map.
  • To get a tier 2 potion, it needs to be somewhat aligned with the outline, but not exact.
  • To acquire a tier 3 potion, the bottle needs to fit exactly in the outline.

This may require you to use ingredients you don’t normally use, and those ingredients may be rarer. Take advantage of the fact that you do not have to complete an ingredient’s path to create the potion — you can stop on the bottle outline and pump the bellows. If you save a tier 3 potion (or any potion) with rarer or more expensive ingredients, you may not be able to instantly make it from your recipe book in the future.

Buy Empty Pages for Tier 3 Potions in Potion Craft

One of the merchants who comes by often sells blank pages for your recipe book, also known as “enchanted pages.” You can buy these for around 84 gold per page (don’t forget to barter to lower that price), and you should regularly buy them.

Tips for Tier 3 Potion Alignment

Aligning that little bottle with its place on the map can be super frustrating. If it’s not exact, you won’t get a tier 3. Here are some ways to get the exact alignment. Look for the “III” over the bottle to know you’ve made it to the third tier.

  • Simply expect to use more ingredients to complete the potion if you want an exact alignment. Prepare for it by storing a variety. You won’t know exactly what you need until you get there (unless you’re creating it from a recipe).
  • Remember that you don’t always have to crush the ingredient with the mortar and pestle. You can drop it directly into the cauldron if you’re only looking for a short distance.
  • It’s often worth using a rare ingredient if it gives you the exact alignment — disappointing as it may be. Sometimes you’ll use something extensive on the last step to get the alignment you need.
  • Don’t forget to use your map guiding feature (pouring water) which will freely push your potion back to the center.
  • A Terraria and a Waterbloom will get you a Tier 1 healing potion. Start there and add one or more of many possible combinations to get your perfect alignment.

Tier 3 potions in Potion Craft can be a bit of a pain to acquire, but they’re typically worth it when it comes to completing a customer order or getting a higher price for it on a general sale.
