Before we dive in, check out our Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord skills guide to get a more general idea of all the various skills in the game and what they mean.

Killing Bandits and Low-Level Looters

Stroll around the map and look for bandits and low-level looters that you can easily take out. Before each battle, make sure to save the game just in case things take a turn for the worse.

Killing these looters is a good way to build your morale and renown early on in the game. Note you can also take looters prisoner and sell them for gold. If you are ranged, you can ride around on your horse and corral the looters while going for headshots with your bow.

After you down a few of them, the rest will flee allowing you to chase them down for some easy experience and loot them when they die. When they start fleeing, they won’t bother attacking you anymore.

When you defeat them, you’ll notice you gain quite a bit of renown and morale for your victory. You can see it’s a great way to farm some reputation with this method. You will also get some prisoners that you can sell for ransom money to the local town.

You can more or less kill looters to max out your stats, level, and reputation in the early game making this a great method for efficiently leveling.

Ransoming The Prisoners

Head to the local town and head to the Tavern District. From here you can ransom the prisoners you just got for some money. You’ll generally get around 5 gold per looter. Later on, you can do this same method against Hillman and get over ten times more gold for your prisoners.

Sell the random items you looted from the party of looters you just took down at the town as well, which is where you’ll get a bulk of your gold from. You can then use that gold to upgrade some of your own equipment such as your horse or weapons.

Tournaments

While you are at your local town, there may be a tournament going on. Entering these tournaments is a great way to earn some renown and get some gold by placing bets.

Using the methods above, you can efficiently level your skills, morale, and character in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, all while accumulating a good amount of gold coins.
