How to Fix Overwatch 2 “Rendering Device Has Been Lost” Error

This is an issue that typically pops up when it has something to do with your computer components, and today we’ll explain how you can get things back up and running correctly so that you can begin jumping back into Overwatch 2 matches without issue.

How to Fix Overwatch 2: Rendering Device Has Been Lost

The “Rendering Device Has Been Lost” error that you could be seeing in Overwatch 2 or any other game actually has to do with your PC overheating. More specifically, it’s probably caused by your GPU (graphics card). We’ve come up with several ways to fix this issue, and while some may definitely fix this issue for you, not all may fix it depending on your computer setup. So it’s best to test each one out to see where the issue lies. Let’s check them out!

As far as remedies go for fixing the “Rendering Device Has Been Lost” error, there are quite a few methods that you can test out to see if this issue goes away.

Here are the ones that worked for us:

  • Close all running background applications you don’t need active.
  • Update your Operating Systems, such as Windows, iOS, or Linux.
  • Update your graphics card’s drivers via the manufacturer’s website.
  • Enable GPU Scaling (this is specific to AMD users) in AMD Radeon Software.
  • Reset the GPU’s clock speed to its default settings. This can be done in the computer’s BIOS or manufacturer’s software if available.
  • Turn on Super Fetch Service.
  • Exclude Overwatch 2 from the Antivirus Scanning list.
  • Check your computer hardware for any damage or pieces incorrectly plugged in which may be causing overheating.
