How to Get Golden Guns in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 has been released, and what's caught our eye are those sparkly golden weapons. Want to know how to get your hands on them?

Overwatch 2 has finally come and replaced the original Overwatch, and with quite the queue time as one would expect for a hotly anticipated launch of a new title, you probably have some burning questions you want answers to. We’ve got you covered on one of those right here in case you were wondering if Golden Guns were still a thing from its original and how exactly one goes about accumulating them once more.

The New and the Old Golden Guns of Overwatch 2

If you have already played and compiled a certain amount of Golden Gun unlocks in Overwatch 1 then you will be thrilled to know that these do carry over into Overwatch 2. Give the development team some time however, since these have reportedly not been appearing alongside other bugs involving cosmetics and account merging pre-existing stats since its launch.

The all-important Competitive Points

For both newcomers and pre-existing players of the original Overwatch who had yet to complete the gallery unlocks regarding the golden gun obtaining, these are priced at 3,000 Competitive Points (CP) each. The same can be said for the new hero additions of Junker Queen, Sojourn and Kiriko since their unlocks will be at zero upon its release.

Obtaining these points can only be done by playing competitive matches just like Overwatch 1. How many points matches award players with have been slightly tweaked however in a new format that rewards players the most for climbing its ranks no matter which role. For example, if you reach its highest possible bracket of Grandmaster in any role (Tank, Damage or Support), you will be granted the highest sum of CP available within a match. Also note that these are capped with each and every season.

The CP awarded specifically are as follows:

  • Win: 15 CP
  • Draw: 5 CP
  • Bronze: 65 CP
  • Silver: 125 CP
  • Gold: 250 CP
  • Platinum: 500 CP
  • Diamond: 750 CP
  • Master: 1,200 CP
  • Grandmaster: 1,750 CP

You’ll have to grind and make your way up the competitive ladder to grab those pretty gold weapons as quick as possible!
