How to Cook in Silent Hope?

A Dungeon Crawler with Life Sim elements?

Marvelous Entertainment Inc., perhaps best known for its cozy, wholesome games, returns shortly after its Story of Seasons rebirth to bring a new kind of cozy to its games. This time around, things are very different, and you must not be fooled by the cute, chibi-style facade. By peeking behind the curtains, a darkness is revealed where you must dive into the Abyss, uncover all secrets, and fight evil, all whilst being guided by the Princess. Silent Hope asks of you one thing – to hack and slash your way to victory and do it as a cutesy character.

In the midst of all of the fighting, however, you will want to find a place to sleep off the hurt, regain some health with a hearty meal, and switch characters depending on the threat that is ahead of you. Leaping into the Abyss is one thing, but getting out to the other side is a completely different story. For those looking to get a helping hand through Combat Buffs, a good meal in your belly will properly send you on your way. This is Vincent’s guide on how to cook in Silent Hope.

Where to Cook in Silent Hope?

Silent Hope follows some of the primary components, as seen in Life Sims. Although it is not meant to be consumed as a Life Sim as it focuses more on Dungeon Crawling than anything else, you do have more than enough chances to go back to your Marvelous Entertainment roots (if you have them) and make some dishes via Recipes you have obtained along the way.

Cooking and Mining are available in the game, where you can pick up more Recipes and craft Materials out of mined goods, all of which will help aid you in your progress through the Abyss. To cook, you need to head back to Base. Simply head to the right-hand side of the Base and interact with the Kitchen Cook. Dishes can be selected here via Recipes and Ingredients you have gathered.

Your Base is revealed to you after completing the Prologue to Silent Hope. Here, you will see that every time you wish to head back into the Abyss, the giant hole found at the edge of Base will teleport you straight into the heart of Dungeon Crawling. Animal Products and Vegetables are required as the main Ingredients to make your dishes. At the beginning of the game, you will only have access to the basics – Hot Milk, Boiled Egg, and Pickled Turnip. Each Recipe offers Buffs with Healing, Defensive and Offensive capabilities. These Ingredients can easily be picked up around the Base via the Farm and Fields.

Any dishes made will go into your Inventory and be located under your Dishes Tab (Frying Pan Icon). By creating these in bulk, you can place them into Storage to use them for other times. When you want the Buffs activated, however, you will want to start an Abyss Mission by heading to the giant hole at the edge of the Base (towards the camera). Up to 3 Dishes can be selected here where the Buffs will remain activated at the time you complete the Level of the Abyss you are heading into.
