Evony Battle of Gaugamela Guide

Make Alexander the Great proud!

The Battle of Gaugamea (BoG), alongside the Battle of Chalons and the Battle of Constantinople in Evony: The King’s Return, are alliance battle challenges where you get to face off with another alliance. The BoG occurs every Wednesday and lasts for 2 hours and does have some strict requirements on who can play it.

Still, the best thing about BoG is that it doesn’t put you at any real risk and serves mainly to test your PvP skills. Read on to get all the necessary information you need to know before going in for a BoG.

Evony Battle of Gaugamela Explained

The first thing you should know is that the BoG is a 2-hour event in which you and your opponent are fighting against each other and gathering points on the map in all sorts of different ways. Whoever has the most points after the 2-hour mark, wins.

Now, in order to enlist for this event, your Alliance needs to be at least 15 days old and you need to be in the top 20 on your server. Furthermore, only R4 and R5 players can sign up and lastly, your alliance selects 20 people (they need to be in the Alliance for at least 3 days and have their Keep at level 15) that will participate in the event.

What is the Battle Itself Going to Look Like?

Naturally, Evony’s version of the Battle of Gaugamela will vary quite a bit from the real historical event where Alexander the Great beat Darius of Persia. In this mobile game, you and your opponent will be placed in opposite corners of the map and for the first 5-minute period you wouldn’t be able to move or attack anything or anyone.

You will spawn with your alliance members so this is the right time to use troop buffs and talk strategy. As soon as the 5-minute mark is over, you will be able to teleport across the map to capture valuable points, attack your opponent, or attack monsters.

The way you lead the actual battle is by taking your stronger units to attack the enemy while keeping your weaker units occupying the strategic points (Battlefield Hospital, March Tower, Blessing Tower, and Portal). The crucial thing for your movement and the wholesome strategy is to use teleports smartly. Your whole alliance will have only 40 at the start and you can acquire more by holding on to the Portal strategic point on the map. However, players get carried away easily, spend all of their teleports and at that moment they are just prey for the enemy that still has the ability to strategically move around the map with this spell.

How to Get Points in the Battle of Gaugamela?

As we said earlier you can get points that will win you the BoG in three different ways: by killing enemies, by killing monsters, and by occupying Buildings on the map.

Points from Killing Enemy Troops

When it comes to killing enemies you should know that the higher the level of the enemy unit you kill the more points you get. Since there is no way for us to know in advance who you will be fighting, we can’t really predict how many points you will get from this. But just for scale, if you kill 1 million Tier 1 enemy troops you will get 2.2 points, if you kill 1 million Tier 8 troops you get 51.1 points, and if you kill 1 million Tier 14 troops you will get 133.3 points.

Points from Killing Monsters

When it comes to killing monsters across the map, here’s the list of how much they’re worth from weakest to strongest:

  • Skeleton Dragons and Werewolves – 1 point
  • Yashas, and Manticores – 2 points
  • Minotaurs and Perytons – 3 points
  • Griffins – 4 points
  • Ifrit – 5 points
  • Kamaitachi, Fanfir, and Behemoth – 8 points
  • Phoenix – 35 points

Points from Capturing Buildings

Lastly, the strategic Buildings. Occupying each of the buildings and holding it for one continuous minute will give you 1 point. However, their other bonuses differ.

  1. Portal: There are 4 Portals in total and holding one of them for 3 continuous minutes gives your alliance 1 teleport.
  2. Blessing Tower: There are 2 Blessing Towers in total and while you occupy it your whole alliance has increased attack and defense by 20%.
  3. Battlefield Hospital: There is only 1 Battlefield Hospital and whoever occupies it gets a healing increase of 60% for their whole alliance.
  4. March Tower: There is only 1 March Tower on the map and if you occupy it you and your alliance will get a march speed increase of 50% while at the same time, you will slow your enemy’s march speed by 30%.

Evony Battle of Gaugamela Tactics

There are of course numerous tactics you can implement to win your battle but we should like to point to some things we believe should be focused on. The first thing is the buildings. Don’t underestimate the importance of capturing buildings since their bonuses mean a lot. Try to scout and fight with your mid to high-tier units to get control of a certain building but then leave behind a low-tier unit to guard it once it’s yours.

Furthermore, you should always talk to your alliance members. Sharing map information, if you encountered one of the monsters and/or if you need help killing it is crucial. Some of those monsters bring really good rewards and if you organize effectively with your alliance you can bring the numbers in and take them down quickly.

Evony Battle of Gaugamela Rewards

If you hold on for 2 hours and complete the battle there are neat rewards waiting for you, whether you’ve won or lost. The only way in which you won’t be getting any rewards is if you abandon the game while the battle is on.

Naturally, the winning team will get the better rewards but in the end, the number of your rewards will be calculated by your score. So no matter if you think your alliance is winning or losing, keep trying to get the best score possible.

The rewards that you can expect (the amount depends on whether you’ve won or lost and how good your score is) are the following:

  • Dragonstone Crystals
  • Runestone Chests
  • Resources
  • Speedups
  • Gold
  • Gems
  • Lumber
  • Ore

What Risks Are There When Playing Evony Battle of Gaugamela?

There isn’t a big risk when playing BoG as only some of the things you use are wasted for good. Spending speedups, gems, and ports will not be reimbursed and your destroyed Traps will be lost as well. However, the troops that are killed during the battle are only wounded and you can revive them while the battle is on by spending only speedups. After the BoG is over your hospitalized units will immediately heal fully for free and the Keep and Subordinate Cities on your server are safe while you’re playing this battle.
