Do you ever just look at a character at the start of a story and say to yourself, “yep, they’re gonna be a bad guy?” Some people just exude an aura of antagonism, and one of those people is Lady Rhallus Oroitz of Neva Tulira in Cris Tales. Here’s how to defeat Rhallus in Cris Tales.
After uncovering Gladys’ will and outing Rhallus as a fraud (not to mention landing her twin sons in some much-deserved hot water), the Lady will drop all niceties and immediately kidnap Rysa with the intent of draining her life away. Crisbell and company pursue her to the parade ground, where she’s holding Rysa hostage.
How to Defeat Rhallus in Cris Tales
If you take a look at the turn order at the top of the screen when the fight breaks out, you’ll notice that both Rhallus and Ryza have separate turns, as well as their own health bars if you have Willhelm Scan both of them. On Ryza’s turn, Rhallus will use Zaphyr Drain to steal some of her life and restore her own. Ryza only has a few hundred HP, and if it runs out, that’s game over for you. This is why, when her health starts getting low, you need to heal her with magic or an item. Don’t worry, you can target her separately from Rhallus.
As for Rhallus herself, in addition to her basic wing attack, she can also shoot feathers at all three of your party members at once. If you parry them, they’ll disappear, but if you miss the parry, they’ll become embedded in the ground. After a few turns, the embedded feathers will start inflicting status ailments like poison on whatever party member happens to be standing closest. You can target the feathers and attack them directly, so make sure to clean them up quickly. Rhallus doesn’t have any particular affinities, so between cleaning up the feathers and keeping Ryza alive, just whale on her with your strongest attacks and spells until she keels over. Oh and, free advice, don’t bother pushing her into the future; it won’t help you in the fight, and let’s just say her and Ryza’s collective future is… disturbing.
