Best Locations to Find Shiny Psychic-Type Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet

Pop the Shiny Psychic Sandwich in your hunt

When searching for Shiny Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, players have various methods to increase those starting odds of 1/4096. As Shiny Hunting will be predominately done in the post-game, players should aim to obtain the Shiny Charm. This can be achieved by completing the Paldean Pokédex. Shiny Hunting is best done when you have Shiny Sandwiches which can isolate the Pokémon Type you are searching for. Because of this, you are required to find Herba Mystica as a key ingredient for these Sandwiches. But this ingredient is farmed in 5- and 6-Star Tera Raids, accessible in the post-game. But for those who are looking for Shiny Pokémon, this guide will show you the best locations where you can find them.

Best Places to Find Shiny Psychic Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet

Psychic-Type PokémonShiny Location in Paldea
GalladeLocated outside of Zapapico (West). You can use the Town Reset Method to manually force the spawn rates in this area. As Gallade spawns right next to the Town, you will be able to easily reset spawns and look out for its Shiny Form. Use the Town Method of Zapapico to Dalizapa Passage. The Shiny color you need to look for is blue instead of green. you can walk down the Passage to check all nearby spawns as Gallade can appear by this Passage.
EspeonThis variation of Eevee can be found north-west from the Town Medali. You need to head towards the River on the north side, by using the Psychic Shiny Sandwich you will isolate Espeon to increase the encountering rates. This Pokemon will appear in the masses, directly next to the River. You can use the Picnic Reset Method here to easily reset the spawns of Espeon, increasing your odds even further. Alternatively, you can just walk from west to east, following the River to reset the Pokemon. You can also use the Town Method at Casseroya Lake and West Province (Area Three) to reset the spawns of Espeon nearby. Espeon appears green and is easily to spot in its Shiny form.
GirafarigHead to the Porto Marinada Pokemon Centre and walk east. These will appear incredibly close to the Centre, making it an easy location to use as a way to hunt this specific Pokemon. You can once more, use the Picnic Method to reset the nearby spawns of Girafarig, taking out a minimum of 60 Pokemon in the area and manually opening and closing the Picnic to reset the spawns around you. The Shiny form is harder to spot, with a blue nose and spikes on its back instead of pink. You can also follow the path from the Centre, heading towards Casseroya Lake. Keep your eye out for the Shiny form. By walking up and down the path, you will create a far enough distance for the spawns to naturally reset and render back in new Pokemon.
GothoritaFound right outside of Alfornado. These appear incredibly close to the Town so utilizing the Town Method is best here. You can simply hop in and out of the Town from the south-eastern corner. Gothorita will appear directly in front of you, as soon as you see the South Province (Area Six) pop up icon. This is another hard Shiny to spot as the only distinction between the forms is the purple eyes on the Shiny form instead of blue.
BronzongFast-travel to the Glaseado Mountain Pokemon Centre. This Pokemon appears right outside of the Centre. You can easily use the Picnic Method here as many Bronzong appear in this location. Alternatively, you can simply walk west from the Centre to reset the spawns close to the Centre as you create a distance between yourself and the fast-travel spot. You need to look out for its overall green tinted coloring as opposed to its standard silver coating. This Pokemon can also be found at the Alfornado Runes.
HatennaHatenna is found in South Province (Area Four) at the most southern border of Paldea. You want to go between the small River of South Province (Area Six) and your House over on Poco Path. This Pokemon is located near small bodies of water, the tiny ponds you will find in the Province. Circle around the bodies of water to reset the spawns or use the Picnic Method, it is up to you. The Shiny form of Hatenna appears as an all-over white color instead of white with a blue tinted head.
KirliaKirlia can be found right outside of the eastern City, Levincia. Exit out of the south side of the City and use the corner for the Town Method. You will see Kirlia appear right outside of Levincia, so the Town Method is best used here to reset their spawns. You can also find Kirlia north of Porto Marinada, head to the top of the hill and use the Town Method of Porto Marinada to West Province (Area Two). The Shiny form has blue hair instead of green.
MedititeInside the Cave north of Asado Desert. Alternatively, you will find this Pokemon east of Alfornado. You can use the Picnic Method inside the Caves as many Meditite appear within close proximity of one another. At Alfornado, you should follow the path to the top of the hill to find Meditite in family spawns. You will have to run around the area to reset the spawns however. This Pokemon appears red in its shiny form.
Flittle/ EspathraLocated directly in the middle of the Asado Desert. Flittle are hard to spot in their Shiny form so make sure you are taking your time in searching for these before you move on to reset the spawns. These have a green undercollar instead of its standard pink. A Picnic Reset can be used here for both Pokemon to greatly increase your chances. The Espathra Shiny form has brown feathers. You are far more likely to find a Shiny Flittle in the wild than a Espathra.
Spoink/ GrumpigOn the earthy crust of the south side in Glaseado Mountain. You should use the Glaseado Mountain Watchtower as your starting point and stay on this biome, going south-west. Head downhill where you will find the family spawns of both Spoink and Grumpig. Spoink appears pink and Grumpig appears green when their Shiny forms appear. You should walk up and down this side of the Mountain, heading to and from the Watchtower as your starting position. These Pokemon will appear along this Mountain side, on the slope.
IndeedeeCheck the entire span of land from the North Province (Area One) Watchtower to the Pokemon Centre in this Province. This Pokemon appears a blue color but can be hard to spot in the wild so keep your eyes out for it. Other Psychic Pokemon will appear here however, making this a hard Pokemon to hunt. You can use the Picnic Method here but you may want to just walk from the Centre to the Watchtower which will naturally reset the spawns in this large grassy area.
DrowzeeLocated in the Runes inside South Province (Area One). Head across the pond in the area and back over to the Runes to reset the spawns of Drowzee. This Pokemon is easy to spot in its Shiny form, being a pink color.
HypnoFound east of Alfornado, specfically at the top of the hill at the Runes. You can use the Picnic Method here against both Pokemon species, Hypno and Bronzong to reset the spawns. Remember to knock out 60 Pokemon minimum at the Runes and then use the Picnic to reset the nearby spawns. You can walk up the hill behind the Runes and drop down to reset the spawns beside the Runes. Hypno is pink in its Shiny form.
Bruxish/ VeluzaIn West Paldean Sea, next to Porto Marinada. Use the Town Method in the sea, from Porto Marinada to West Paldean Sea. Both Pokemon will appear close to the Town edge. It is best to use camera mode or ZL to zoom in on the nearby Pokemon to tell if they are Shiny or not. The best method is to Town Reset here for these two Pokemon. Veluza has green spikes instead of purple and Bruxish is yellow and red instead of yellow and purple. Bruxish can also be found south of the South Province (Area Five) by the small Island in the South Paldean Sea. You can find Veluza north of the Gracia Stones fast-travel spot. Go straight to the Sea next to the fast-travel spot where this Pokemon will appear in abundance.
Slowpoke/ SlowbroBoth Pokemon are found alongside the River underneath the Casseroya Lake. This is a very difficult Pokemon to Shiny Hunt as Slowpoke appears a slightly lighter shade of pink compared to its standard color. So take care and be patient in your search as you can easily miss this one. Slowbro is much easier to spoke with its purple color and brown shell. These Pokemon will appear both in the water and on land. You should walk west to east in the space between Casseroya Lake and the River. Go slow and walk far to reset the spawns.
Charcadet (Psychic Armarouge)This Pokemon can be found north-east of the Olive Fields in Cortondo. You should cross the River towards the cliff side where Charcadet can be found in large quantities. If you start in West Province (Area One) – Central and head south-east to the hill, you will find this spot. After locating Charcadet, you should use the Picnic Reset Method to reset the spawns. Keep in mind that you should use a Fire Shiny Sandwich to isolate this Type. The color you should look for to pinpoint the Shiny Type is its blue eyes. Evolving a Shiny Charcadet into Armarouge (Scarlet exclusive) via obtaining Malicious Armor.
Oricorio (Pa’U)Oricorio is located outside of Artazon, on the south side before you would walk into the sandy biome. You can find Oricorio in the south corner of the grassy biome before the sand biome behgins. Use a Shiny Fire Sandwich to isolate this Pokemon. You need Pink Nectar to evolve this Pokemon into the Pa’U Style of Oricorio, thus obtaining a Shiny Psychic Oricorio. A Shiny Oricorio has black chest and feathers instead of red.
Oranguru (Scarlet)Oranguru is an easy Pokemon to find due to it only appearing in a single location of Tagtree Thicket. However, not many Oranguru spawn in unless you use the Shiny Psychic Sandwich. You should head straight to the Tagtree Thicket Pokemon Centre, where this Pokemon will appear in abundance in very close proximity to the Centre. You should definitely use the Picnic Reset Method here to quickly and manually alter the spawn rate of this Pokemon. Oranguru is pink all over in its Shiny form.
Scream Tail (Scarlet)Located in Area Zero, you should head to the glimmering crystal formation inside Area Zero. Look over at the rock formation where many Scream Tail spawn in. Just go near the formation, you do not need to head over. Stay on the platform and walk to the other side where the rock formation Pokemon on top will reset, showing you a different set of Scream Tail. This Shiny form has red eyes instead of yellow.

Best Shiny Sandwich Recipes to Use

If you try Shiny Hunting without isolating the Pokémon Types, you will have a harder time searching for specific Pokémon. Many Pokémon listed above are found in the same location as other Pokémon Types. Even if you were to use the Picnic or Town Method, you will not be able to search for a specific Pokémon without the Types. Therefore, you must create Shiny Sandwiches to isolate the specific Type you are looking for across Paldea. These sandwiches work for a total of 30 minutes to isolate the Type, so use them wisely, whenever you are in the correct location listed above for the Pokémon you are looking for.

Psychic Shiny Sandwich Recipes

  • Simple Psychic Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x1 Onion, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Sour Herba Mystica.
  • Intermediate Psychic Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x1 Onion, x1 Cheese, x1 Herbed Sausage, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Spicy/Sour/Sweet Herba Mystica.
  • Expert Psychic Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x2 Onion, x1 Prosciutto, x1 Red Bell Pepper, x1 Green Bell Pepper, x1 Yellow Bell Pepper, x1 Spicy Herba Mystica & x1 Bitter Herba Mystica.

Once popped, you can use either the Town or Picnic Method to manually force the spawn of the wild Pokémon within close proximity to yourself. This will greatly increase your chances of encountering the Shiny Psychic Pokémon you are looking to hunt. Once you find them however, make sure that you manually save before you try to catch them. This is in case the Pokémon disappears. Doing this means that you can load your game to encounter the Shiny Pokémon again.
