All New Features and Changes in Phasmophobia Apocalypse Update

A new update just in time for Halloween.

Phasmophobia quickly became one of the most popular games on Twitch back in 2020. People fell in love with watching their favorite streamers bumble around as they tried to hunt ghosts. Since then the game has received many updates with the most recent being the Apocalypse update, which adds custom difficulty, new locations, and many more features.

What’s New in the Apocalypse Update

Now Phasmophobia players have the option to create their own custom games. Players will also be able to earn money and XP from participating in these custom games. Custom games can be modified with custom difficulties. Up to 3 custom difficulties can be saved. In addition to new customization features, new locations have been added as well.

These locations are Sunny Meadows Mental Institution and Camp Woodwind. There is also a restricted version of Sunny Meadows Mental Institution which will start players to play in a smaller, restricted area of the map. This is made possible through the all-new location selection board. Players can unlock this restricted version of the map once they’ve reached level 22. Camp Woodwind is unlocked at level 19.

Ghost types in Phasmophobia also received many changes in the apocalypse update. All ghosts will now have more impactful throws and throw objects more often. There is now a 50% chance that an object in range of the ghost can be thrown every 0.5 seconds. With the Poltergeist this percentage is increased to 100%. The Jinn’s drain ability has received some tweaking as now it can activate if in the same room with another player or if the player is within 3m of the Jinn. Oni now appear longer than before and drain more sanity than normal ghosts.
